Job Purpose

To identify, manage and provide advice in connection with Personal and Business Banking distressed and defaulted exposures in terms of the Business Support & Recovery (BS&R) Mandate

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

• Responsible for management of NPL names (primary responsibility) with decisions approved through Ad-hoc and monthly NPL committees. Act as key account liaison to deal with queries and issues from Relationship Managers, Risk, Operations and Collateral Teams as well as with external professionals such as valuers, auctioneer’s, lawyers, receivers etc. on matters relating to Non-Performing Loans
• Along with the relevant Relationship and Credit Managers, assess clients/accounts in order to manage risk and limit exposure over the short, medium and long-term.
• Assess counterparties, the current security position and where appropriate take additional security. Participate and sometimes lead Rapid Risk Reviews in order to identify potential watch list and non-performing loans early.
• Oversee the drafting of sound legal documentations and scrutinise agreements including but not limited to facility agreements, consortium agreements, security sharing agreements and mortgage charges, in accordance with set risk parameters.
• Responsible for advising Personal and Business Banking on performing loans showing signs of distress (Watchlist names). Executed through Portfolio Rapid Risk Reviews and Watchlist Committees. Provide recommendations to improve business and banking risk and enhance customer relationships to Business and Credit Teams. Brief Heads of Business to enable them to lead negotiations with watch listed names.
• Responsible for recommending impairment requirement (provisions) to CRMC and PBB Specific Debt Provisioning Forum. Ensuring internal, IFRS, and regulatory provisioning requirements are met.
• Responsible for collecting and maintaining loan loss data. Database updated as and when exposures change, or material recovery event occurs.
• Develop and implement solutions for credit recovery on accounts in order to secure debt, stabilise accounts or turnaround where possible.
• Be involved and influence client visits and negotiations to manage credit recovery processes including restructure and or renegotiation of facilities.
• Provide advice to various stakeholders on credit recovery and liquidation / receivership processes.
• Document and communicate relevant decisions to all relevant stakeholders.
• Assist with relevant reporting returns and provide advice on these where required.
• Conduct in-depth research on relevant accounts, applying banking, legal and credit knowledge where applicable.
• Participate in industry initiatives from time to time

Preferred Qualification and Experience

• Degree in Business Management or equivalent.
• 3-7 years banking experience. Credit experience preferable.
• Keen interest in building a career in BS&R

Knowledge/Technical Skills/Expertise

Specialist knowledge – Demonstrates a clear understanding of the role BS&R should perform within PBB and must be able to provide direction and strategic thinking where appropriate in relation to distressed and defaulted exposures.
Sound business savvy and banking knowledge around:
– accounting and financial principles
– generally banking
– corporate banking
– Legal principles related to lending and collateral rights
And ability to translate and apply this knowledge to optimise positive outcomes.
Risk Management – Understands and manages strategic and operational risk including understanding and conforming to the relevant processes and procedures within BS&R & PBB.
Competencies required in delivering accurate and relevant results and assessing risk including attention to detail, delivery of accurate and relevant research, proactive and timely delivery of requirements, ownership of problems, understanding of impact of non-delivery and sub-standard performance.

Job description

This position is responsible for taking membership of prospective non-members, renewing membership, selling Nature Kenya merchandise at the front office and cleaning the office and ensure overall office neatness. The position holder will be the first point of contact for members and other regular customers arriving at the Nature Kenya office. He/she will assist members along with their enquiries. This position reports directly to the membership manager.

Responsibilities

  • Process sales of Nature Kenya merchandise at the membership front office shop.
  • Ensure safety for allocated Nature Kenya merchandise.
  • Take new memberships.
  • Renew memberships.
  • Support in membership campaigns and recruitment events outside the office.
  • Enter membership details on to the membership database.
  • Update membership renewal details on the database.
  • Record and report  membership and other institutional inquiries at the front office and where appropriate respond to enquiries.
  • Actively support and participate in membership events including nature walks, trips, the Sunday potluck, talks and the AGM.

The Front Office Assistant is expected to work under the supervision of the Programme Support Manager, through the Programme Assistant and will assist with assigned office duties. He/she will work closely with the Programmes Assistant to ensure effective management of the front office, filing, visitor handling, telephone handling, mail handling, tea making and general office cleanliness. The office assistant shall ensure that the front office is kept clean, orderly, and up-to-the required customer care standards. He/she will also work closely with the General Office Assistant and the Membership Recruitment and Sales Officer to help with delegated tasks. Some of the tasks shall be administrative and will require a good working relationship with the Administration Officer.

Qualifications

  • Diploma, preferably in Customer Service and Front Office Management, Secretarial or related field
  • At least two years’ experience working in an office environment
  • Basic computer knowledge, proficiency in Microsoft Office packages and good typing skills.

Head of Conservation Programmes at World Wide Fund for Nature

The mission of the Conservation Programmes Function: 

To provide strong and effective leadership, strategic direction, oversight and coordination of WWF-Kenya’s conservation programmes. Working closely with colleagues and engaging key stakeholders, leads the overall strategic direction and design of WWF-Kenya’s conservation priorities ensuring they deliver against the WWF-Kenya Strategic Plan. Ensures effective planning and overall delivery of agreed conservation goals through effective leadership and oversight – including ensuring sound design, development and implementation of key programmes that together form a cohesive portfolio of WWF-Kenya’s conservation efforts; ensuring robust monitoring, evaluation and learning frameworks are in place for all programmes and that these are regularly and effectively reported against to assess progress and demonstrate impact on habitats, wildlife and people. To help the WWF-Kenya Office grow in strength and influence by effectively representing its conservation work and through building strategic relationships with key decision-makers and other key stakeholders and partners.

Main Purpose of Role: 

The Head of Conservation Programmes is responsible for effective programme design, resource management, planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of all conservation programmes. He/she will provide strategic leadership and oversight of conservation implementation and ensure that WWF-Kenya will deliver conservation impact at scale and reach the agreed level of conservation performance measured by KPI’s. The key accountability of this position is to deliver the effective implementation of all conservation programmes using adopted conservation standards and application of best.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, inspire, motivate, empower, develop capacity building/personal development plans for the Conservation team.
  • Work with the Senior Leadership Team to develop a consistent approach to strategy execution and drive organizational performance.
  • Guided by the overall WWF Kenya strategic plan, develop programme conservation action plans and annual work plans and oversee implementation of the conservation activities working with Government, Civil Society, Businesses and Partners.
  • Establish, implement and oversee monitoring, evaluation and learning within conservation programmes and priorities in line with WWF-Kenya’s strategic plan to demonstrate achievement of our conservation goals.
  • Work with the CEO and Senior Leadership Team to develop and implement funding strategies to support WWF-Kenya’s conservation programmes.
  • Develop, establish and build strong enduring relationships with WWF-Kenya’s community of partners, staff, Board and supporters to strengthen interaction, creativity and conservation results.
  • Maintain strategic oversight of conservation activities and monitor the effectiveness of the Conservation team who in turn coordinate priorities and activities.
  • Participates and takes up conservation policy level engagement as necessary to influence change at all levels.
  • Ensuring all programmes contribute to an overall strategic, cohesive portfolio, have effective conservation plans, deliver impact at scale and are effectively contributing to relevant priorities.

  • Facilitates and coordinates a consistent and effective approach that promotes innovation across conservation programmes and projects run by WWF-Kenya.
  • Establish a network of influence with key organisations and individuals in the Country to influence and inform national policy and decision-making.
  • Establish and nurture effective working relationships and influence with other relevant WWF offices and colleagues including supporting offices and the Practices.
  • Oversight of WWF-Kenya’s Practice focal points and their engagement, influence and maximising opportunities within the Practices
  • Ensure that within programme monitoring, evaluation and learning frameworks WWF Kenya has established solid baselines and SMART indicators for biodiversity and wellbeing targets as well as those associated with reducing Kenya’s “footprint”
  • Leads on conducting and/or supporting conservation audits and evaluations as required and ensuring timely and effective implementation of all recommendations.
  • Set annual conservation department budgets and ensure effective management of agreed work plans and budgets in line with WWF-Kenya’s procedures.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Advanced degree (masters or higher) in Conservation, Biology, Natural Resources,
  • Environment, Ecology, Social Science or related discipline.
  • At least 10 years of experience in planning and programme design, implementation,
  • M&E, audits and evaluations of complex, large scale conservation projects and programmes – at both the conceptual and practical level.
  • At least 5 years in a senior conservation leadership role effectively leading the staff and a portfolio of conservation projects and programmes.
  • Experience in non-profit or environmental organization and knowledge of the WWF
  • Network an advantage.
  • Experience in securing funding for projects and conservation activities.
  • Demonstrable experience in effective influence and advocacy on conservation issues.
  • Demonstrable experience in building effective partnerships and coalitions with a variety
  • of stakeholders.
  • A deep understanding of the key conservation issues and context in Kenya and/or the East Africa region.

Required Competencies

  • Experience of working in an international and/or inter-cultural environment, with NGO
