BURN designs, manufactures, and distributes aspirational improved cooking products that save lives and forests in the developing world. BURN is the leading cookstove company in Sub-Saharan Africa and has revolutionized the global cookstove sector by proving the business case for selling high quality, locally manufactured, and unsubsidized cookstoves.
Since 2013, BURN has sold 350,000 improved cookstoves in East Africa. These stoves have helped 1,500,000+ beneficiaries save $52 million in fuel expenditures and 1,156,221 tons of wood while reducing indoor air pollution by 65%.
BURN currently sells ~15,000 stoves per month and are on track to double sales over the next 12 months. BURN is looking for a driven candidate to fill the Process Engineer position at its modern clean cookstove manufacturing facility in Ruiru, Kiambu.
Responsibilities
- Analyse individual processes, identify and suggest improvements towards more efficient, safe processes that meet high quality standards.
- Help to implement and maintain high workplace organization standards.
- Help to investigate and troubleshoot problems in process/ production.
- Document key process details including but not limited to correct parts specifications, individual processes material requirements, correct equipment settings among others.
- Provide guidance and support in documenting key production metrics necessary for measurement of key performance indices including but not limited to OEE, Capacity Utilization among others
- Update Work Instructions and SOPs to ensure the correct information is available to factory workers.
- Conduct process development tests & test new processes, assessing the impact of process changes on production.
- Provide support in coordinating different & new production lines
- Work towards maintaining a safe workplace by monitoring production processes and recommending ways of improving operational safety
- Assist in training Factory workers on processes, safety and quality.
- Update and maintain accurate records of batch tracking & lot traceability.
- Assist in carrying out any other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A background in Chemical & Process/ Mechanical/ Manufacturing Engineering
- Should have good analytical skills
- Good planning and coordination skills
- Should be Proactive
- Attention to detail
- Problem solving skills
- Have a good understanding of Excel
- Good communication skills
