Sistema Job Vacancy : Country Manager

Sistema.bio is a global social enterprise that seeks to improve the life of small farmers around the world through a holistic technology and capacity-building approach. Sistema has designed a high quality digester that converts a wide range of organic waste types and volumes into biogas and organic fertilizer. These help farmers to improve their harvests, save on increasing energy costs and improve food security.

Sistema started in Mexico in 2010, and has since then expanded to Latin America, East Africa and India.
In addition to a full launch in Kenya, Sistema has started piloting in Uganda and aims to start operations in both Uganda and Tanzania in 2018. It therefore needs a Country Manager in Kenya to continue to build the brand and prepare the team for the geographical expansion.

The successful candidate will need to understand and translate the global strategy into clear and tangible outcomes for the region. They will also need to ensure that all sales and installations take place on time and within budget.

The role is suitable for an individual who enjoys delivering through teams in a fluid environment. Country Manager Job Responsibilities

Strategy execution

  • Seek to understand and translate the global strategy into clear and tangible outcomes for the region
  • Obtain buy-in and drive the implementation of the set outcomes
  • Define and manage the region’s forecasts, plans as well as finances in line with the set outcomes
  • Learn, adapt and continuously improve the organisation’s standardised structures as well as processes to the region

Communication

  • Track and report on the region’s performance against the set forecasts, plans and finances to senior management
  • Collaborate and manage relationships with key internal as well as external stakeholders such as Customers, Investors and Head Office
  • Leverage relationships to mitigate and resolve risks and issues

Team management

  • Build a strong team by recruiting, training and motivating a collaborative workforce
  • Ensure that the regional team offers a high quality service to all customers during the entire sales, installation and maintenance process. All activities should take place within the set time and budgets
  • Identify the skills and abilities of your team in order to inspire, challenge and define appropriate individual career paths
  • Act as a sounding board to the team

Requirements for the Country Manager Job

Does this sound like you?

  • Have 10 – 20 years’ work experience across different divisions, i.e. sales, marketing, operations
  • Have 3 – 5 years’ experience in the rapid growth environment, i.e. building a new business or product category
  • Experience dealing with customers in rural and semi-urban environments
  • Proficient in the use of Salesforce and MS Office
  • Have an appreciation for the start-up environment, with a ‘roll-up sleeves’ attitude and entrepreneurial mind-set
  • High emotional intelligence, challenges boundaries and delivery focused
  • Strong negotiation, interpersonal and project management skills
  • Have a sense of urgency in solving organisational challenges
  • Currently residing or willing to relocate to Kenya
  • Kenyan candidates preferred
