ICT Senior Deputy Director at National Youth Service

The Senior Deputy Director, ICT is responsible for providing an enabling ICT platform to the Service, promotes utilization of effective ICT strategies, aligns ICT strategy and policy to the NYS’s mandate in all areas of operations, and provide advisory to ensure NYS leverage on technology to improve service delivery.

Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of this office will entail:

  • Advising management on policies and strategies related to ICT functions
  • Development and implementation if ICT Strategy, plans, policies, systems, and procedures;
  • Providing support to systems’ automation and promote technological innovations to enhance efficiency.
  • Establishing and providing standards for acquisition, implementation and management of ICT networks for all offices;

Qualifications

For appointment to this post, the candidate must: –

  • Have a minimum of an Upper Second Class Honors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Communication Technology, or equivalent from a recognized university;
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Communication Technology, or equivalent from a recognized university;
  • At least eight (8) years of relevant work experience in public or private institution;
  • Membership to a relevant professional body in good standing;
  • Have a Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme (SLDP) from a recognized institution;
  • Demonstrate strong abilities on a spectrum of key work performance competences such as managerial, teamwork, interpersonal, negotiation, analytical, numerical and organization skills; and

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of payroll reports, responding to inquiries and/or requests for data and ensuring timely and accurate payroll production in line with set timelines, policies and standards procedures.

 Responsibilities

  • Preparing, analyzing and implementing payroll transactions in a timely manner.

Logistics Assistant at United Nations Office at Nairobi

The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) is the UN headquarters in Africa and the representative office of the Secretary-General. We support programme implementation of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT) globally, as well as other UN offices in Kenya, by providing administrative, conference and information services (www.unon.org). This post is located in the United Nations Office at Nairobi, Central Support Services, Mail Pouch and Archives Unit at the Nairobi duty Station. Under the general supervision of the Chief, Mail, Pouch and Archives Unit (MPAU) the incumbent will be responsible for the following tasks:

Responsibilities

1. Goods receiving:
a) Receives and inspects delivered stocks, ensuring the stocks received are in good condition and matchs
specifications
b) Liaises with Building Management and Travel Unit (BMTU) experts, Receiving and Inspection and Procurement in the event that stock items do not
meet required quality standards
c) Ensures stock database is updated daily to reflect stocks received and the stock levels.
d) Liaises with the Supply and Inventory Assistant when new items are delivered to the stores

2. Distribution of Stock Items:
a) Receives and records the approved requisitions from BMTU and delivers/issues the goods
b) Liaises with BMTU when the requisitions are not clear or when items are not in stock.
c) Ensures stock database is updated daily to reflect issuance and current stock levels.
d) Prepares items for distribution and/or distributes stock item as per BMTU instructions. Prioritize the delivery of stock items when needed.
e) Monitors the movers (contractor’s staff) in the stores when they remove items from the shelves.

3. Stores Operations:
a) Ensures that the stores are clean and stock items are stacked in the right places/shelves for easy access and distribution. Ensure stock location is reflected correctly in the database.
b) Assists the Senior Stock Clerk in keeping the keys and locks all the cupboards for safe custody of stock items.
c) Monitors stock levels (as per the database) and liaises with Administrative Assistant (Stores) BMTU for the reordering of stock items as required.
d) Enters data in the database by entering Receiving and Inspection (R&R) deliveries and issuance of stock items; files stock requisitions, work orders and incoming correspondence in relevant files,
e) Drafts routine correspondence for the supervisor(s) upon request.
f) Assists in the preparation of reports on available stock and performs regular physical counts of items in stock.
g) Participates in physical inventory taking exercises of non-expendable and expendable goods administered by UNON upon request.
h) Identifies new stock items are added to BMTU catalogue on a continuous basis

4. Other Functions:
a) Assists Warehouse supervisor in the coordination and preparation of items to be submitted to the Local Survey Property Board via Property Management Unit (PMU) for disposal or donations.
b) Performs other related duties as assigned by the direct supervisor, warehouse supervisor, or Chief, MPAU, such as, but not limited to, assuming the responsibilities of colleagues during their leave.

Education

Completion of High Diploma is required. Supplementary technical training from a technical college in stock management or any other relevant field would be an asset. Passing the Global General Service Test (GGST) is an advantage for temporary position recruitment consideration in the General Services and related categories in the United Nations Secretariat. Applicants who have not passed the GGST at the time of application may be invited for the test after submitting an application.

Work Experience

A minimum of two (2) years of experience in stock management is required. Working experience with electronic, administrative and on the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems/Systems Applications and Products (SAP), in an international organization is highly desirable.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.

ICT Senior Deputy Director at National Youth Service

The Senior Deputy Director, ICT is responsible for providing an enabling ICT platform to the Service, promotes utilization of effective ICT strategies, aligns ICT strategy and policy to the NYS’s mandate in all areas of operations, and provide advisory to ensure NYS leverage on technology to improve service delivery.

Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of this office will entail:

  • Advising management on policies and strategies related to ICT functions
  • Development and implementation if ICT Strategy, plans, policies, systems, and procedures;
  • Providing support to systems’ automation and promote technological innovations to enhance efficiency.
  • Establishing and providing standards for acquisition, implementation and management of ICT networks for all offices;

Qualifications

For appointment to this post, the candidate must: –

  • Have a minimum of an Upper Second Class Honors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Communication Technology, or equivalent from a recognized university;
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Communication Technology, or equivalent from a recognized university;
  • At least eight (8) years of relevant work experience in public or private institution;
  • Membership to a relevant professional body in good standing;
  • Have a Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme (SLDP) from a recognized institution;
  • Demonstrate strong abilities on a spectrum of key work performance competences such as managerial, teamwork, interpersonal, negotiation, analytical, numerical and organization skills; and

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of payroll reports, responding to inquiries and/or requests for data and ensuring timely and accurate payroll production in line with set timelines, policies and standards procedures.

2. Distribution of Stock Items:

d) Prepares items for distribution and/or distributes stock item as per BMTU instructions. Prioritize the delivery of stock items when needed.
e) Monitors the movers (contractor’s staff) in the stores when they remove items from the shelves.

3. Stores Operations:
a) Ensures that the stores are clean and stock items are stacked in the right places/shelves for easy access and distribution. Ensure stock location is reflected correctly in the database.
b) Assists the Senior Stock Clerk in keeping the keys and locks all the cupboards for safe custody of stock items.
c) Monitors stock levels (as per the database) and liaises with Administrative Assistant (Stores) BMTU for the reordering of stock items as required.
d) Enters data in the database by entering Receiving and Inspection (R&R) deliveries and issuance of stock items; files stock requisitions, work orders and incoming correspondence in relevant files,
e) Drafts routine correspondence for the supervisor(s) upon request.
f) Assists in the preparation of reports on available stock and performs regular physical counts of items in stock.
g) Participates in physical inventory taking exercises of non-expendable and expendable goods administered by UNON upon request.
h) Identifies new stock items are added to BMTU catalogue on a continuous basis

4. Other Functions:
a) Assists Warehouse supervisor in the coordination and preparation of items to be submitted to the Local Survey Property Board via Property Management Unit (PMU) for disposal or donations.

Education

Completion of High Diploma is required. Supplementary technical training from a technical college in stock management or any other relevant field would be an asset. Applicants who have not passed the GGST at the time of application may be invited for the test after submitting an application.

Work Experience

A minimum of two (2) years of experience in stock management is required. Working experience with electronic, administrative and on the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems/Systems Applications and Products (SAP), in an international organization is highly desirable.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.

Education

Completion of High Diploma is required. Supplementary technical training from a technical college in stock management or any other relevant field would be an asset. Passing the Global General Service Test (GGST) is an advantage for temporary position recruitment consideration in the General Services and related categories in the United Nations Secretariat. Applicants who have not passed the GGST at the time of application may be invited for the test after submitting an application.

Work Experience

A minimum of two (2) years of experience in stock management is required. Working experience with electronic, administrative and on the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems/Systems Applications and Products (SAP), in an international organization is highly desirable.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.

Functions of the Clerk

    Responsibilities

    • The Administrative head of the County Assembly;
    • The Accounting Officer / Authorized Officer for the County Assembly;
    • Secretary to the County Assembly Service Board of Kisumu;
    • Responsible for implementation of all policy decisions of the County Assembly Service Board;
    • Responsible for Enhancing Public understanding and knowledge of the work of the County Assembly and increasing Public accessibility;
    • The Principal Advisor on all legislative procedures, practices , conventions and traditions to the Speaker of the County Assembly, other presiding Officers and to all Honorable Members of the County Assembly;
    • The Chief Advisor to the Speaker in the exercise of all powers and functions that belong to the Speaker and through the Speaker, to the House. He acts under authority and takes decisions in the name of the Speaker. Orders passed by the Clerk are the Orders in the name of the Speaker, and the latter accepts full responsibility for those orders;
    • Responsible for marshalling all Legislative measures passed by the County Assembly.sxf

    Qualifications

    Pursuant to the provisions of section 12 of the County Governments Act and the County Assembly Services Act, a person shall not be qualified for appointment as a Clerk of the County Assembly unless such person:

    • Should be a Kenyan
    • Has had at least 7 years of relevant professional
    • Holds a degree in social science, political science, law from a university recognized in Kenya or its
    • Meets the requirements of Leadership and Integrity set out in Chapter 6 of the Constitution of Kenya
    • Must have undertaken strategic and Development leadership(SLDP) from Kenya School of Government

    The following qualifications will be an added advantage;

The Chief of Party is responsible for providing leadership in project implementation and delivery of desired results in accordance with donor rules, regulations, and policies. Responsibilities

  • In liaison with KCB Foundation Managing Director and program staff, plan, implement and monitor all aspects of the program in collaboration with technical staff, organizational partners, program partners, and short-term consultants .
  • The COP will also be responsible for the management of the project and will serve as key liaison with the donor, KCB Bank Kenya and implementing partners.

    • Visit assigned sites on a regular basis and oversee implementation and execution of ongoing project tasks.
    • Create and sustain a work environment that promotes learning through documentation and knowledge sharing around best practices and lessons learned.
    • Ensure monthly, quarterly and annual programmatic reports and information for submission to the donor.
    • Effective people management ensuring highly skilled staff are recruited, properly inducted, empowered to provide leadership and decision-making within a team setting, and effectively managed to perform to a high standard and meeting their objectives.

    Qualifications

    • University degree in Business, Economics, Development Studies or related field from a recognized university.
    • Master’s degree or professional qualifications in relevant field is added advantage.
    • 15 years’ relevant work experience in designing, managing, monitoring and implementing capacity building projects with a proven track record.
    • At least 5 years’ experience as a Chief of Party/ Program Director/ Country Manager with an international donor agency or NGO.
    • International donor experience is required with significant exposure and experience leading/ managing/ monitoring projects in accordance with donor rules, regulations and guidelines.
    • Excellent capacity to understand and manage complex budgets in relation to program implementation.
    • Strategic thinking and planning capacity to oversee the development and implementation of functional plans and project initiatives.

  • Prepare, share and review test results periodically, report any defects, bugs, errors, configuration issues and interoperability flaws and develop test acceptance reports for projects and software changes.
  • Works with business units to perform post deployment sanity and regression tests and post-implementation review within defined period to confirm that the deployed solution works as per the business requirements.
  • Participates in formulation and implementation of software process improvement policies and strategies for the division.

Qualifications

For the above position, the successful applicant should have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or a related field of study.
  • Professional Qualifications such as ITIL Foundation or ISTQB Foundation or TOGAF is required.
  • 7 years progressive experience in Information Technology with focus on Business Analysis, Software Development, Quality Assurance.
