Research Assistant (Fisheries) at KMFRI

Duties and responsibilities for scientists at this grade will include: –

  • participating in research problem identification;
  • developing research concepts and proposals;
  • designing experiments;
  • collecting and analyzing data;
  • preparing technical reports and scientific publications;
  • using other methods to disseminate research findings in their areas of specialization; and
  • any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a minimum grade of C+ or equivalent;
  • Upper second class Bachelor’s Honours degree or equivalent degree in any of the following fields: Aquatic or Fisheries Sciences, Biological Sciences, Bio-statistics, Biometrics, Biotechnology; or any other aquatic, fisheries and other relevant disciplines from a recognized University;
  • Master’s degree in any of the following fields: Aquatic or Fisheries Sciences, Biological Sciences, Biometrics; or equivalent ;

Principal Laboratory Technologist at KMFRI

Duties and responsibilities will entail:

  • coordinating provision of laboratory services in a number of units and sections;
  • preparing and implementing work plans and programs;
  • ensuring submission of samples to reference and collaborating research institutes;
  • revising and approving laboratory manuals and quality specifications and standards;
  • coordinating safe laboratory waste disposal;
  • overseeing proficiency testing;
  • managing laboratory supplies;
  • facilitating technical evaluation for laboratory supplies and equipment;
  • providing technical advice on biosecurity matters;
  • ensuring adherence to good laboratory practice;
  • implementing and maintaining laboratory operations standards (ISO 17025);
  • liaising and collaborating with regional and international reference laboratories and research institutions for exchange of laboratory findings; and
  • mentoring and training of personnel in the Department.

Qualifications

Direct appointment will be made from candidates who have:-

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a minimum grade of C (Plain) or equivalent;
  • Diploma in any of the following disciplines:- Applied Biology; Science Laboratory Technology, Analytical Chemistry; Food Science Technology or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  • Higher National Diploma in Applied Biology/ Laboratory Technology/ Analytical Chemistry or equivalent from a recognized institution;
  • Certificate in management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
  • Working knowledge of computer applications; and
  • Satisfactorily served at the position of Senior Laboratory Technologist or its equivalent for a minimum of three (3) years.

Supply Chain Management Officer I at KMFRI

Duties and responsibilities at this level will include:

Qualifications

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade C+ (Plus) or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  • Bachelor’s honors degree in any of the following: Commerce, Business Administration (Supply Management option), economics, procurement and supply chain management , marketing, law or their equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  • Satisfactorily served in the grade of Supply Chain Management Officer II for a minimum period of three (3) years.

Program Manager at Safaricom

Reporting to the Senior Manager PMO, the position holder will coordinate and manage the delivery of Complex Information, Communications and Technology solutions for Safaricom projects. This role will be responsible for kick off, execution, implementation and closure of Sprints, Projects and Programs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
  • Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs using appropriate verification techniques
  • Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques
  • Report and escalate to management as needed
  • Manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
  • Track project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals
  • Meet budgetary objectives and make adjustments to project constraints based on financial analysis

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with a technical discipline or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in technical program/project management in a consumer electronics environment
  • Experience defining projects, collecting requirements, writing detailed functional and test specifications, coordinating efforts to scope, schedule and deploy new features sets.
  • Experience analyzing cost/benefit of feature selection
  • Demonstrable experience in project management
  • Certification in project management e.g. PRINCE 2/ PMP/SCRUM.

Role overview

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Needs Education or inclusive Education
  • At least 2 years’ experience working in the field of both project management, finance or administrative experience in an NGO or community based organisation.
  • Evidence of knowledge and skills in M&E
  • Evidence of previous experience in implementing Disability project
  • Proven experience in coaching and mentoring of team members
  • Knowledge on gender and inclusion practices
  • Good written and spoken English and Kiswahili skills, Kenya Sign Language skills is an added
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member and with minimal supervision
  • Good written and oral communication.
  • Evidence of effective problem solving and organisational skills.
  • Evidence of professionalism and high integrity.
  • Evidence of openness to learning to improve own performance
