Project Assistant/Intern at Kenya Medical Association (KMA)

Kenya Medical Association (KMA) is a voluntary membership organization open to all medical and dental practitioners registered in the Republic of Kenya. KMA works closely with the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board (MPDB). It has joined its sister organizations within the East Africa region to form a cooperation in the health sector together with the medical regulatory bodies and the Ministries of Health. Under this initiative the three East African Associations formed the Federation of East African Medical and Dental Associations (FEMDA) in which KMA is an active member.

The Nairobi Division seeks to fill the position of Project Assistant/Intern. This position is answerable to the KMA Nairobi Division Executive.

Terms of engagement

It is a 6-month fixed-term, full time, paid internship which may run for a maximum of 12 months (2 terms), based on performance.

Duties and responsibilities

The key responsibilities and duties will be:

  • Providing administrative and technical support to Nairobi Division.
  • Assisting in correspondence with members.
  • Designing, planning and implementing project activities: Developing project work plans and schedules.
  • Establishing and maintaining collaboration with stakeholders.

Qualifications

  1. A minimum of a bachelor’s degree preferably in a business course
  2. IT skills with a working knowledge of basic Microsoft Office and networking applications is required

Credit Control Accountant at PCEA Kikuyu Hospital

The Hospital is soliciting for qualified applicants for the position of Credit Control Accountant.

Position requirements:

  • O Level certificate
  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting and Economics.
  • At least CPA (K), ACC or relevant Qualification.
  • Minimum of three years experience in Accounts and in particular Credit/Debtors management.
  • Current Police Clearance Certificate

Purpose of the job

The purpose of the position is to manage the credit and debtors function in the Hospital.

Key responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Ensures proper maintenance of debtors ledger in the HMIS.
  • Prepares monthly aged debtors balances and collects current and old debtors balances.
  • Reviews debtors balances and preparing exceptional reports and amounts to write off.
  • Develops and reviews credit control policies covering all hospital debt management.
  • Preparation of monthly staff debtors reports.
  • Ensures board members bills are invoiced and sent by 5th of the following month.
  • Ensures that clients statements (companies, schools, insurance, church organizations)are finalized and sent by the fifth of the following month.
  • Prepares overall debtors reports on overdue accounts and provisions to be made in the financial statements.
  • Ensure that all corporate debtors have valid contracts.
  • Ensures that approval of all debts is supported by security (tittle deed). Acceptance of tittle deed requires that 75% of the bill be paid before acceptance of the security.
  • Checks patients invoices/statements to ensure accuracy of the same.
  • Follows up on patients outstanding hospital bills to clear as per agreement.
  • Handles patients social bills related issues.
  • Ensures that all patients have adequate deposit. Theatre cases are paid in advance.
  • Prepares weekly discharge reports and submits them to management for further action.
  • Ensures patients have adequate deposits and committal letters are obtained from corporate clients and billed accordingly and per management.
  • Ensures that patients transfers are done only when bill is cleared.
  • Spearheads negotiations with insurance companies, banks and other corporates for provision of medical services and signing of medical services.
  • Prepares of Debtors schedule sand liaising with external auditors on debtors balances and management.
  • Supervises, mentors and coaches credit control staff.
  • Performs any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Regional Communications Officer – East & South Africa at International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC)

The Position

IFDC’s global communications team is committed to creating and equipping internal and external champions of IFDC’s mission and vision. As a part of this team, the Regional Communications Coordinator – East and Southern Africa will oversee and assist in the development of regional communications and public relations materials that strengthen IFDC’s reputation and influence and build trust with key audiences in the East and Southern Africa region.

The regional coordinator will lead core communications business, including content production, brand awareness, and internal engagement across all countries in the East and Southern African region.

A key member of the global communications team, the Regional Communications Coordinator will ensure the quality planning and delivery of high-impact communications for local to global audiences in support of IFDC’s 2020-2030 Strategy and Business Plan.

This position is open to international and national applicants and will be based in Nairobi, Kenya. The Regional Communications Coordinator will report to the Corporate Communications Manager based at IFDC Headquarters in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, USA.

Key Responsibilities

In partnership with field offices across the region and in coordination with the Global Communications team, the coordinator will be responsible for the following.

  • Leads and executes a regional integrated communications strategy to strengthen IFDC’s regional and global reputation.
  • Encourages innovation among staff to continually optimize ways of working to steward resources well and improve quality of communications outputs.
  • Advises regional and programmatic leadership on strategic reputation, brand, and communications opportunities across the region.
  • Oversees production of high-quality content relevant to priority audiences, positioning IFDC as a leader in its strategic priority fields.
  • Ensures content is relevant for regional and global audiences and meets the needs of IFDC stakeholders at all levels.
  • Pushes the boundaries of creative content delivery with a willingness to try innovative methods and celebrate the success or learn from the missteps.
  • Manages an engaged regional social media presence with partners and donors, protecting the IFDC brand and ensuring compliance of all regional and project accounts.
