Role Purpose statement
Fully implement and enforce security systems and procedures to ensure safe and secure environment for business operations at Mombasa, Malindi, Lamu and off airport locations.
Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities
Proactively manage and control security operations at MBA/MYD/LAU to ensure security of arrival and departure of KQ and Customer flight.
  • Implement security deployment plan at MBA/MYD/LAU to ensure secure coverage of all critical area based on the emerging trends.
  • Provide necessary tools and create conducive environment to ensure safe and secure handling and transportation/carriage of security items on KQ and customer flights.
  • Analyze theft, pilferage and loss of baggage trends and develop security counter-measures to ensure security of company, customer and staff property.
  • Collect and disseminate intelligence information to ensure prevention and detection of crimes.
  • Coordinate with contracted security service providers at the airport and off airport sites for effective coverage to ensure protection of property not directly under KQ security’s watch.
  • Review and operate efficient shift system with adequate staff rest to ensure a motivated and alert team.
  • Consistently discuss with security operational staff, review their performance to create conducive working environment.
  • Provide on job training to KQ security staff and contracted security to ensure that they meet the KQ standards.
  • Ensure that all staff attend mandatory training when due as per the security training matrix.
  • Liaise with other security agencies at MBA/MYD/LAU to ensure quick resolutions to any issues affecting KQ operations.
  • Liaise with other KQ business areas/departments undertaking security functions to ensure secure operations.
  • Guide, advice and direct the operational staff in the course of their operations to ensure that they are complying with regulatory requirements.
  • Proactively conduct self-tests, inspections and surveys to ensure that security operations comply with Company security programme.
  • In consultation with Manager develop standard operating procedures for security staff in MBA, MYD and LAU, and ensure its full implementation.

 

Qualifications

 

 Knowledge, Skills, Experience
  1. University degree or relevant professional qualification
  2. 5 years of relevant experience, 3 of which must be as Security Team Leader
  3. Organizational, planning and analytical skills
  4. IT proficiency e) Knowledge of Criminal Procedure, Penal Code, and Evidence Act
  5. Knowledge of Aviation Security issues and Airport Security Services
  6. Excellent communication and Interpersonal Skills

Kenya Airways Job Vacancy : Analyst.Security Intelligence Analyst

Contribute to efficient airline security operations by proactively analyzing, interpreting security information to produce intelligence estimates for proactive response to ensure that security threats are effectively mitigated
Maintain intelligence trends and patterns data for reference by management in security decision making.
Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities
  • Gather security information in support of security operations.
  • Collate security information for analysis
  • Analyze and interpret information for onward presentation in support of the business
  • Monitor and evaluate emerging global aviation trends and patterns and prepare intelligence briefs for management decision making.
  • Review collected security data and information to identify information gaps and advise on the corrective action in the information integrity process.
  • Advice on information targets based on the current trends and threats to the company and the global aviation industry.
  • Appropriately distribute information on assessment of operational performance on a need basis and outlined strategies to counter threats.
  • Analyze threat and risk assessment reports and In liaison with Manager Security Protection and Integrity give recommendations to mitigate specific risks for management review.
  • In liaison with Manager Security Protection and Integrity, prepare and distribute security notices and alerts giving recommendations on heightened security measures to be implemented in response to security threats facing or likely to affect the business operations and ensure acknowledged receipts of such notices and by all stakeholders.
  • Analyze, update, and maintain the security crime modus operandi database and generate intelligence briefs based on emerging trends and patterns thereof.
  • Maintain an effective collation system to ensure secure and systematic capture, storage and retrieval of information integrity data used in conducting employee background checks.

Role Purpose Statement

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities
Ensure implementation of procedures for the security of aircraft both during overnight stay and turn around to ensure nil illegal access into the Aircraft.
b) Ensure implementation of procedures and processes to ensure no illegal or prohibited items are carried on board KQ flights networkwide.
c) Ensure implementation of procedures and processes to ensure security of passengers and their baggage.
d) Ensure implementation of procedures and processes to ensure security of premises, property and personnel in off airport locations.
e) Implement effective coordination of passenger ramp and cargo warehouse security operations to ensure nil security lapses.
f) Maintain cordial and effective liaison with both internal and external stakeholders in managing hub security issues.
g) Continuously assess risks and threats to hub security operations and implement mitigating action.
h) Coordinate gathering of intelligence on acts of unlawful interference against passenger operations and analyze collect data and initiate counter measures.
i) Ensure speedy preliminary investigation on all reported incidents and onward forwarding to Investigation Team.
j) Ensure compliance with IATA ground operations and safety standards, Kenya Civil Aviation Regulations and other relevant regulatory requirements.
k) Ensure security inspection and tests are regularly conducted to ensure that passenger/cargo, mail and courier security standards are adhered to.
l) Ensure routine monitoring of safety and quality management of critical activities and ensure ongoing conformity to safety standards.
m) Prepare, monitor and control the security budget for areas that fall under him to ensure effective cost control.
n) Ensure effective coordination between Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and Cargo Ramp security staff for maximum output.
o) Ensure effective management of hub operational security staff HR issues in relation to trainings, leave and performance review.
p) Ensure proper utilization and maintenance of security/office equipment to achieve cost effective operations.
q) Ensure that the company meets its contract obligation with regards to customer airlines being provided with security services by Kenya Airways security;

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

The Regional Bureau provides strategic guidance, policy and technical support and direction to WFP operations and activities in nine countries: Burundi, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan and Uganda.

We are currently seeking to fill the position of a Human Resources Intern based in the Human Resources Unit of the Regional Bureau Nairobi.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled at University and having completed at least two years of undergraduate studies; or have recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate programme (within the last six months) from a University preferably in Human Resources, International Relations , Business Administration, Computer Science, or other related fields. Having attended classes in the past 12 months;
  • Alternatively, currently enrolled in a graduate programme (for example, Master degree) from a recognised University and have attended classes in the past 12 months preferably in Human Resources, International Relations , Business Administration, Computer Science, or other related fields.
  • Fluency in English (both oral and written) is a must; knowledge of a second UN language, preferably French, would be an asset.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

Under the direct supervision of the Regional HR Officer, the Intern will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Support the design and implementation of HR strategy initiatives focused on solving staffing needs;
  • Assist in implementing employee engagement initiatives;
  • Support in designing and implementing employer brand recognition initiatives;
  • Support in leveraging technical abilities to automate tasks and improve HR processes;
  • Assist with overall administrative functions for all modules of HR Systems (Payroll, Benefits, Appointments, Separations, Compliance, HR data etc.);
  • Monitor contract expiry dates in the system and take appropriate actions;
  • Help maintain data integrity in systems by running queries, analyzing data and initiate corrective actions when necessary;
  • Review Personnel Action Forms (PAF) and other Service Requests to ensure proper data entry functions;
  • Compile and maintain payroll data, reconcile errors and update payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering relevant data including overtime;
  • Post job opportunities to online job posting sites, social media and other online platforms resources;
  • Assist in the recruitment of national/local staff in the National Officer and General Services categories;
  • Provide support of new hire on-boarding process and employee orientation;
  • Support in evaluating, developing, and recommending improvements in procedures. Participate in discussions on new/revised procedures and practices; interpret and assess the impact of changes and make recommendations on follow up actions;
  • Perform other related duties as may be required.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP up to the maximum amount of US$1000 per month depending on the duty station of assignment.
  • WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, necessary visas and related costs.
  • Depending on the duty station of assignment, WFP will reimburse travel ticket for candidates who are nationals of developing countries and are pursuing their studies in their home country.
  • WFP will recognize candidates’ educational credentials from recognised institutions that have been certified by competent international or national authorities such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) or Ministries of Education;

The internship has a maximum duration of 8 (eight) months and offers college students and graduates the opportunity to combine work experience and professional development with formal education. The WFP Internship programme is designed to prepare highly talented and motivated individuals for future careers with the WFP.
