Developer Audience Product Marketing Managers Manager – Multiple Locations at Microsoft

Microsoft Corporation (commonly referred to as Microsoft or MS) is an American multinational technology company headquartered in Redmond, Washington, that develops, manufactures, licenses, supports and sells computer software, consumer electronics and personal computers and services.

The Middle East & Africa area is looking for a motivated, self-driven manager to drive Azure adoption with the local professional developer community along with the Developer Audience product marketing manager. Azure is the growth engine for Microsoft, spanning our app, infrastructure, data, and artificial intelligence businesses. This role will be accountable for driving awareness and engagement with the professional developer community, both as the local developer audience expert and as an Azure subject-matter expert. The right candidate will be a technical marketing leader with experience marketing to developers across both open-source and Microsoft development stacks, with strong developer community and evangelism roots. The right candidate will also bring a strong developer background.

Azure Developer Product Marketing Managers use their deep developer audience expertise and excellent marketing skills to bring Microsoft’s marketing and technical teams together to help professional cloud developers discover and successfully use Microsoft’s Azure platform, both through in-person 1:many engagements and at digital scale. Azure Developer PMMs help drive broad awareness, skilling and adoption of Azure services to promote a self-sustaining ecosystem of skilled cloud developers.

Responsibilities

Developer Engagement (70%):

  1. Be the visible thought leader, externally and internally, for the professional cloud developer audience.
  2. Actively engage developers and tell the Azure story at local events and communities. Maintain technical understanding of the Azure platform (200 level) and be able to translate Azure value propositions into a locally relevant narrative that carries an authentic developer voice.
  3. Build and own the local Azure developer engagement plan, partnering with fellow leaders (local and corporate) to create a coherent business plan that prioritizes and customizes a local dev engagement mix of social, digital, and one-to-many experiential activities, in alignment with the Corporate strategy and plan.
  4. Build, foster, and maintain healthy relationships with local developer marketing and technical resources and understand how to optimize resource utilization to execute the local developer marketing plan to grow the Azure dev pipeline. These resources include the local CMO team, Cloud Advocate(s), CSEs, Azure Global Black Belts, Cloud Solution Architects, App Innovation Specialists, Partner Technology Strategist, and Area Learning Lead.
  5. Build, foster, and maintain healthy relationships with local developer community leaders. You will select and nurture local Azure Tech Group community leaders, and you will work with local Microsoft MVPs, in partnership with the Community Program Manager.

Go-to-Market Planning (10%):

  1. Plan and execute the local developer audience engagement strategy for Microsoft Azure to professional developers through local Microsoft marketing engines and Global Engagement Programs, in alignment with the Corporate marketing strategy and plan.
  2. Set local community strategy (online, offline) and influence local cloud developer community leaders (Influencers, MVPs, RDs, non-MS) to earn Azure advocacy. Use influence within your network to evangelize Azure.
  3. Conduct reviews across the business to drive aligned execution and provide timely feedback that will shape the corporate engagement strategy.

Business Orchestration (20%):

  1. Identify and orchestrate strategic market-making plays. Own local business management strategy, partnering with fellow leaders to interpret opportunity and risk.
  2. Determine key insights and drive recommendations to accelerate adoption of Microsoft Azure back into the local leadership team.
  3. Capture, analyze and report key performance indicators, insights and metrics and drive informed feedback into Corporate teams to improve global and local (“glocal”) execution plans and outcomes.
  4. Orchestrate adoption and execution of relevant Azure specific sales plays to deliver ACR growth by leveraging MEI data, MSX- Content, and GearUp.

Qualifications

Key Experiences, Skills, and Knowledge:

  1. 10+ Years in People Management experience in Marketing, Business development management, Product marketing management, Developper relationship management
  2. Rich experience marketing to developers or actively building local developer communities
  3. Strong passion for technology and a background working in the commercial application development space (minimum of 8 years)
  4. Deep insight about the local technical ecosystem, including cloud platform providers, developer communities and business trends
  5. Deep marketing competencies/skills & experience, including analytical skills
  6. Demonstrated technical marketing experience across cloud technologies, including Azure, AWS, and/or Google Cloud Platform
  7. Strong understanding of software development principles, common DevOps practices, cloud platforms, business drivers, and emerging trends in Microsoft and non-Microsoft technologies and tools (e.g., Node; Java; Python; etc.)
  8. Previous experience in professional software development roles
  9. Track record of strategic organizational impact and influence
  10. Track record of v-team accomplishments (cross boundary collaboration and interpersonal awareness)
  11. Exceptional leadership skills and team building, decision-making, conflict resolution, negotiation skills, and follow through
  12. Results driven; with exceptional presentation, verbal, and written communication

Education:

  1. Degree in either Marketing/Business or Computer Science preferred; MBA or Masters in Computer Science plus (depending on level)

Reporting to the Head of Finance and Operations, the Procurement Manager (PM) is responsible for managing and coordinating procurement activities, working on the most complex purchases for Mary’s Meals Kenya (MMK), and ensuring that agreements are in-place to protect MMK. The PM will research, evaluate and buy products for MMK to use in their everyday operations. The PM will be responsible for ensuring all procurement activities are in-line with Mary’s Meals Kenya procurement and financial policies and will chair the Kenya Local Procurement Committee (LPC) ensuring that it’s mandate is met.

Key areas of responsibility include:

Procurement Management

  • Ensure efficient procurement of goods and services in a transparent and fully accountable manner, ensuring compliance with financial procedures, value for money and justifiable use of funds;
  • Coordinate the Kenya LPC and ensure that the basis for all major procurement decisions are documented and transparent;
  • Plans, develops and manages all procurement and contractual aspects of significant complexity;
  • Prepare and present procurement recommendation to the LPC and Mary’s Meals International (MMI) IPC
  • Ensure all procurement is approved in-line with Mary’s Meals procurement policies (e.g. purchase order, contract, service agreements);
  • Provide input and recommend improvements to MMK Procurement Policy and processes;
  • Liaise with the key budget holders and other staff to determine their product and service needs;
  • Monitor trends and product availability to pay the best price for goods and services without sacrificing quality;
  • Nurture relationships with suppliers, and for mid-level procurement, independently negotiate the best prices for goods and services on behalf of Mary’s Meals;
  • Ensure compliance with professional ethics, statutory regulations, and organizational policies and procedures;
  • Identify gaps in supplier base, and Pro-actively research and identify potential new suppliers;

Contract and Supplier Management

  • Ensure robust supplier and contract performance management against agreed KPIs and through agreed reporting mechanisms;
  • Ensure that MMK goals are achieved through contract implementation;
  • Perform risk management for supply contracts and agreements;
  • Develop and implement strategies for procurement, including robust follow-up on routine procurement activities;

Team Management

  • Develop the capacity of all appropriate staff in sound procurement practices;
  • Facilitate the engagement and provision of high-quality results and services of the team supervised through effective work planning, performance management, coaching, and promotion of learning and development.
  • Provide oversight, ensuring compliance by team members with existing policies and best practices
  • Lead and conduct initiatives on capacity building development with Head of Finance & Operations and MMI.

Qualifications, skills and experience – Essential:

  • A Degree in a relevant field/subject.
  • Must be a Certified Procurement Professional with CPSP-K.
  • At least 5 previous years’ experience working in a similar role.
  • Fluency in English for effective oral and written communication.
  • Highly organized with an ability to pay close attention to detail and capable of reporting in a timely manner.
  • Ability to analyse information, evaluate options and to think and plan strategically

 The Role 

The role of Programmes Coordinator is to lead the Camara Kenya team to ensure all project activities are completed and achieve the organisation’s strategic objectives in Kenya. The job holder will be required to be actively involved on a daily basis in the projects and operations of the hub.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities 

  1. To work closely with the HOA to deliver Camara’s strategic objectives for Kenya.
  2. To provide leadership, direction and staff development within the Camara Kenya team.
  3. To ensure the implementation of the standardised reporting template in line with Camara Education policies and establish measurable and robust KPI for each of the functional areas within the company.
  4. To ensure that all commercial and financial information is captured on Camara’s standard information databases (currently Salesforce and QuickBooks) and is complete and accurate.
  5. Establish structures to ensure the earliest commercialisation of both CLA and CLS and to support development and improvement of Camara’s e-learning resources in line with best practice.
  6. To oversee the delivery of all projects and establish a best in class M&E framework for every Camara project within Kenya.
  7. To be a key contributor in the construction and implementation of Camara’s Annual and Strategic Plans.
  8. To ensure the highest standards of governance.

The Ideal Person will: 

  • Hold a third level qualification in a relevant discipline, ideally Education, ICT or Development (essential)
  • Have experience managing teams and projects for a minimum of 3 years (essential)
  • Have demonstrable experience in donor relationship management, including grant management, proposal and report writing, ideally within the humanitarian context and/or with the major institutional donors.
  • Have previous experience working in Kenya or another African Country
  • Be fluent in English (essential), Knowledge of Swahili an advantage

Purpose of the Role

Leadership Responsibilities:

This position works within the Finance team and has responsibility of overseeing stores operations, interacting with cross-functional teams both internally and externally to the EAML.

Purpose of Role

To support effective and efficient operations through tight inventory control and dealing with risks to inventory

Top Accountabilities

  1. Preparation, participation and follow up of regular stock counts in accordance with the stock counting procedures. This includes preparation of stores ahead of stock count, printing and distribution of count sheets, reconciliation of physical to book stock and investigation and follow up of variances.
  2. Ensure completeness and accuracy of movements and transactions by regularly reviewing suitable reports. Reports, frequency and ownership are defined in the stores’ procedures.
  3. Maintain stores in accordance with EABL stores procedures, Diageo Physical Security Policy, Diageo Quality Policy, Diageo Risk Standards and CARM.
  4. Daily review of stores to confirm cleanliness of stores and proper arrangement of spares according to 5S.
  5. Operating the weighbridge, Sales Order Processing to customers and intercompany sales.
  6. Maintaining optimum stocks, with minimum stockholding costs, without compromising on production and maintenance processes.
  7. Manage receipt, maintenance and issue of all stores inventory in SAP and real-time (same day) processing.
  8. Ensure that quantities and quality delivered by suppliers fulfil the contractual commitment on purchase orders at the point of receipt.
  9. Issue goods rejection notes for nonconforming materials/goods delivered and making sure suppliers collect the goods for replacement or issue credit note.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  1. A degree or higher diploma in a business-related course
  2. 2 years Inventory Management experience preferably in FMCG industry.
  3. Graduate Diploma in Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (an added advantage)
  4. SAP knowledge and high computer literacy

Communication and Information Management Officer at VSF Germany

VSF Germany is a non-governmental, non-profit making organization, engaged in the field of veterinary relief and development work. VSF Germany was founded as a students’ initiative in 1991 at the University of Veterinary Medicine Hanover and is now a well-known NGO working in the Horn of Africa.

VSF Germany is a member of the ILRI led Consortium that has received funding from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) to establish One Health Research, Education and Outreach Centre for Africa (OHRECA). The goal of the project is to improve the health of humans, animals and ecosystems through capacity building, strengthening of local, regional and global networks and provision of evidence-based policy advice on One Health in sub-Saharan Africa. The center’s four thematic areas are: control of neglected tropical zoonotic diseases, emerging infectious diseases, food safety and informal markets, and prevention and control of antimicrobial resistance. VSF Germany as partner to ILRI will support the OHRECA project by implementing the project titled “One Health Regional Project to Combat Neglected Tropical Diseases, Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), Emerging Infectious Diseases (EIDs) and Address Food Safety in Uganda and Kenya for a period of 4 years.

C. Purpose of the Position

VSF Germany has in the last five years promoted One Health Approach in its programming through a strategy of integrated collaborative, multi-sectoral and multi-disciplinary One Health projects in the countries of operation through multi-stakeholder partnerships and engagements. The OHRECA project offers VSF Germany an opportunity to reinforce and further expand the scope of the organization’s work on zoonotic neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), antimicrobial resistance (AMR), emerging infectious diseases (EIDs) and food safety to a regional scale. Successful implementation of the project will require effective internal and external communications and information management strategies to disseminate outcomes and impacts of the project through a variety of communication packages. It is against this background that VSF Germany seeks to recruit a qualified Communications and Information Management Officer to manage its communication, visibility and project banding strategies covering Kenya and Uganda to support the realization of One Health Approach as a key thematic area of intervention in the organization under the OHRECA program.

D. Reporting Lines and Collaboration

The Communications and Information Management Officer shall working under the direct technical supervision of the Regional Head of Programs, and in close collaboration and cooperation with the OHRECA Project Manager /One Health Specialist, Country Director for Kenya, the Technical Project Manager for Uganda, ILRI Communications Officer responsible and other project team members at the countries and at the regional office; other implementing partners/ stakeholders, contracted consultants and associates including the respective country line ministries at the national and sub-regional levels, professional associations, value chain actors and PhD and Msc fellows associated with the OHRECA project implementation in the countries.

E. Key Tasks and Responsibilities

The Communications and Information Management Officer shall be required to perform a wide range of generic tasks specific to the OHRECA Project communications, visibility and branding. Detailed specific tasks shall be elaborated in the Job Description. Generic tasks and responsibilities shall include:

  • In collaboration with the ILRI Communications Officer, develop and implement an external and internal communication, visibility and branding scheme / plan for the VSF Germany OHRECA Project,
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive plan for coverage of activities and events and provide regular updates on project outcomes and activities to key stakeholders through blog posts, articles, newsletters, success stories, posters and other packages appropriate for a variety of audiences,
  • In collaboration with the technical project teams, design and produce appropriate Education, Information and Communication information packages for behavioral change communication in line with the needs of the different project components,
  • Support the registration of new projects and regular updating / uploading of projects data in the online projects management system (WebMo) and any other platform available for the OHRECA information /data management for progress trucking.
  • Work closely with the ILRI Communications Officer as the link to the different OHRECA Project component leads on all matters relating to communications, visibility and branding,
  • Support the technical team in the preparation of periodic project technical narrative reports,
  • Support production of knowledge products from the OHRECA project for dissemination,
  • Support the planning, and facilitation (moderation) of project stakeholder and planning meetings,
  • Plan and implement project specific documentaries for dissemination to stakeholders,
  • Maintain a catalogue of project pictures, video clips and other narrations for reporting purposes,
  • In collaboration with VSFG PR team, maintain & update online content creation through social media
  • Maintain a list of VSFG project staff, media and partner contacts in collaboration with line manager,
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned by the line management

F. Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism or related field
  • 5 years’ experience in communications for development or agriculture
  • Experience in developing communication and knowledge management strategies
  • Proven ability to communicate research findings, development and extension program outcomes using various media for a variety of audiences
  • Excellent communication and writing skills in English
  • Expertise in risk assessment and communication in project context
  • Experience in developing behaviour change communication plans to reach different audiences
  • Ability to facilitate stakeholder meetings and perform effective rapporteuring of the proceedings,

The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) works to improve food security and reduce poverty in developing countries through research for better and more sustainable use of livestock. ILRI is a CGIAR research centre – part of a global research partnership for a food-secure future.

The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) seeks to recruit an MSc graduate fellow to undertake research on estimating the cost of production of stabilates used in the Infection and Treatment Method (ITM) of immunization against East Coast Fever (ECF). The MSc fellowship position is funded through the Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Animal Health and will be hosted under the Animal and Human Health program at ILRI.

ILRI works to improve food and nutritional security and reduce poverty in developing countries through research for efficient, safe and sustainable use of livestock. It is the only one of 15 CGIAR research centers dedicated entirely to animal agriculture research for the developing world. Co-hosted by Kenya and Ethiopia, it has regional or country offices in East, South and Southern Asia as well as Central, East, Southern and West Africa.

The Position

The Animal and Human Health program seeks to effectively manage or eliminate livestock, zoonotic and food-borne diseases that matter to the poor through the generation and use of knowledge, technologies and products, leading to higher farmer incomes and better health and nutrition for consumers and livestock.

The Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Animal Health is a collaborative program between ILRI, University of Nairobi, Kenya Medical Research Institute, Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization and the Washington State University, aimed at improving human nutrition, economic welfare, and resilience by removing constraints to cattle health and production in the East Africa region.

The Feed the Future Innovation Lab is developing and improving diagnostic products and vaccines for East Coast Fever, improving adoption of animal health innovations and interventions, and quantifying their direct and indirect effects on human nutrition and well-being.

The successful applicant will join a cohort of graduate fellows under the Innovation Lab and will focus their work on estimating the cost of production of stabilates used in the Infection and Treatment Method (ITM) of immunization against ECF.

Key responsibilities:

  • Describe the ITM production process
  • Estimate cost of ITM production
  • Analyze vaccine supply chain
  • Conduct comparative analysis of alternative ITM production and supply chain strategies
  • Prepare and submit MSc thesis to the registering university
  • Prepare manuscript for publication in a peer reviewed journal

Eligibility:

  • Candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics, Veterinary Medicine or a related field.
  • Candidate must have registered for an MSc course in either Agricultural economics or Veterinary Medicine or other relevant course in a recognized university.
  • Candidates should have completed and passed coursework and ready to embark on the research project.
  • Proficiency in English language, both oral and written.
  • Only nationals of Eastern and Central Africa countries. Applicants from Burundi, Rwanda, South Sudan Tanzania and Uganda are encouraged to apply.

Location: ILRI Nairobi, Kenya

Duration: 1-year

Terms of appointment: This is appointment for 1 year, subject to satisfactory performance.
