We are currently recruiting for our client a leading Engineering Manufacturing Company;
Production Planner
Production Planner’s basic responsibility is to ensure the right product is available, in the right quantity, at the right time. They are key to the smooth and cost-effective flow of production materials. He/she will be required to create and maintain detailed production schedules and interface with Production Supervisors and/or Production teams to ensure goods are produced on time for distribution in a profitable manner.
Key Responsibilities for the Production Planner Job
- Create a weekly and monthly production schedule that ensures product availability for distribution.
- Schedule shifts according to production needs.
- Issue detailed schedule for based on a final time-phased production plan.
- Manage production details in line with business strategy (cost, rate, inventory and uptime).
- Ensure production schedule is continually maintained and communicated.
- Communicate production issues, supply changes, deviations from plan and potential solutions to appropriate parties.
- Manage performance standards and analysis methods to compare actual production performance against established standards.
- Monitoring process orders & assuring closed as needed, accurate process orders are used to maintain system & data integrity
- Primary interface between manufacturing and supply chain.
- Co-ordinates the production planning with maintenance planning and scheduling needs.
- Obtain output information (number of finished products, percentage of defectives etc.)
- Prepare and submit status and performance reports as required
- Collaborate with quality control, warehouse and other staff
Production Planner Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in statistics/ Production Technology or an equivalent from a recognised university
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience in reputable company in a similar position. Those in the manufacturing sector will have an added advantage
- Highly developed Ms Excel skills
- Good working knowledge and understanding of ERP systems

- Proactive and with problem solving skills
- Ability to work without supervision and meet strict deadlines
