The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) is the UN headquarters in Africa and the representative office of the Secretary-General. We support programme implementation of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the UN Human Settlements Programme (UNHABITAT) globally, as well as other UN offices in Kenya, by providing Administrative, conference, Security and information services (www.unon.org).
The UNON Audio Visual Technical Support internship is for 6 months.
The Internship is UNPAID and full-time.
Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned
Responsibilities
-Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual’s background; the intern’s assigned office as well as the internship period.
Under the Supervision of (e.g. Programme Officer, Chief etc) the intern will:
- Assist in updating and managing DCS communications (Safaricom and Telkom bill), updating phone numbers and locations.
- Assist in undertaking, updating and reporting on inventory.
- Prepare daily / monthly / weekly reports for all meetings held in and outside Nairobi.
- Provide technical support for DCS staff and delegates, setup of computers for conference and training.
- Install IP phones at user’s site and maintenance of telecommunication equipment in both hardware and software.
- Assist duty technicians in setting up, operating and maintaining conference equipment.
- Assist in setting up and operating Web-streaming infrastructure.
- Assist in administrative duties in the Office of the Chief, ITU/PCS/DCS.

Education
Applicants must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:
a. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
b. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent).
c. Have graduated in a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent
