Founded in 2005 in Dublin, Ireland, Camara has built a proven model of ‘education delivery’ that is both sustainable and highly scalable. Camara is a registered charity in the US, Ireland and the UK. It currently operates five Education Hubs in Africa (Ethiopia, Kenya, Zambia, Lesotho and Tanzania), and one in Ireland, alongside a Resource Hub in Dublin and London. All Hubs operate as social enterprises and operate to serve local market needs through a sustainable business model.
The role of Head of Africa Operations is to lead a team; Camara Africa Centre (CAC), including educational hub CEOs, to support and govern each of the five African hubs.
This role will also chair the boards of each of the hubs until there are functional boards in each country.
Responsibilities (other tasks may be added):
- Oversee the delivery of all major projects across the African hubs.
- Ensure hubs are delivering on their targets especially revenue targets.
- With assistance from the Boards, govern and support the hubs with regard to:
- Strategic and annual plans
- Policies, processes and systems
- Branding, sales and marketing plans
- Budgets, financial and operational reporting
- Recruitment, management and motivation of staff
- MOU with Ministry of Education and other strategic partnerships
- Coordinate the hub reporting by providing board report inputs, and support in financial, M&E, operational reporting and operational reviews.
- Actively participate on the CEL Leadership team.
- Lead and support the Camara Africa Centre (CAC) staff in providing support to the hubs
- Support the fundraising effort within Camara by pursuing Africa based opportunities and providing feedback on success stories and donor/sponsor funded interventions
- Building the hub boards with both Camara and local representation and chairing where needed
