To contribute to the creation of a thoughtfully designed interface that takes the user journey into consideration, whilst maintaining integrity to UNEP’s brand.

Expected duration

The consultancy is expected to cover the duration of 6 months at level “A”.

Duties and Responsibilities

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. UNEP’s Communications Division communicates UNEP’s core messages to all stakeholders and partners, raising environmental awareness and enhancing the profile
of UNEP worldwide.

The UX and Front-End Designer will work to ensure that website outputs are accurately represented to meet client needs and also ensure extraction results from A/B tests and finetune design based on results.

Under the supervision of the Head of Web and Chief of Digital Strategy, the consultant will perform the following duties:

Deliver an evolved UNEP.ORG site, specifically with new templates that will address clients asks and strategic opportunities;

  • Deliver the UNEA5 site, specifically with new templates that address the communication asks;
  • Deliver the Clean Seas 2.0 site, specifically with new templates that address the communication requirements from the 2021 calendar;
  • Deliver the BeatPollution 2.0 site, specifically with updated templates that reflect the pollution
  • mandates for UNEP.

Qualifications/special skills

Academic Qualifications: A university degree in in arts, digital design, graphic design or related area is required.

Experience: A minimum of 3 years’ experience developing dynamic and contemporary web designs with proven website links is required; Proven experience with tools like InVision; Understanding of Drupal based sites; Experience with dynamic infographics and interactive story, scrollifying layouts a plus.

Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this consultancy position fluency in English is required.
