An officer at this level will report to Director Administration.
Responsibilities
- In charge of Civilian Security Services in the County;
- Carrying out supervision of in-house and contracted security services
- Liaising with external security agencies for preventive action;
- Assisting in investigations and prosecutions:
- Developing and implementing security policies, regulations, rules, standards; norms, protocols and procedures;
- Designing and implementing new security measures;
- Identifying and investigating security breaches and issues;
- Coordination maintenance of security Surveillance, knowledge of CCTV Codes of Practice; security systems, and access control;
- Analyzing security operations to identify risks or opportunities for improvement;
- Liaising with other operational areas in the County to ensure harmony and consistencies in security requirements;
- Conducting physical examinations of property to ensure compliance with security policies and regulations;
- Conducting security activities to safeguard County assets, properties, employees, clients and guests;
- Documenting security status /updates and submitting confidential reports on security issues;
- Maintaining regularly contacts with state security agencies;
- Maintaining records of acts of unlawful interference or crime for possible prosecution or other reference;
- Providing regular security briefs to the County Management and staff;
- Disposing of and accounting for lost and found properties;
- Maintaining crime and incidents records and charts; and
- Coordination security documents such as passes and registers.
Qualifications
- Be a Kenyan Citizen;
- Have vast knowledge and relevant work experience of 8 years’ in the relevant field,3 years of which should have served as a Senior Security Officer or in a comparable position either in the Public Service or Private Sector;
- Bachelor degree in Criminology & Security Studies or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Six (6) weeks approved security course from the Kenya Police Service or the Armed Forces at the rank of Inspector/Lieutenant and above;
- Leadership/Management course lasting not less than 4 weeks from a recognized institution;
- Clean certificate of discharge and a valid First Aid Certificate from a recognized institution; Physically, mentally and medically fit;
- Fulfilled all the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010;
- Proven communication and proficiency in computer applications;
- Demonstrate thorough understanding of County development objectives of vision 2030;
- Have ability to work in a multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity;
- Demonstrate understanding and commitment to the National, Values and Principles of
- Governance as outlined in Articles 10 and 232 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010; and
- Demonstrated high degree of professional competence and management capability.
