We are pleased to announce the following Position in the Digital IT Department within the Technology Division.   In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below.

Brief Description.

Reporting to the Manager – Infrastructure and Capacity Planning, The position holder will provide technical expertise in infrastructure and capacity planning for the Cloud Infrastructure Systems, deployment, monitoring and administration of Safaricom Linux/AIX, Windows, VMware, Openstack, SAN Storage systems, Virtualization platforms and providing capacity enhancements for all cloud infrastructure solutions.

Role purpose:

The position holder will provide technical expertise in infrastructure and capacity planning for the Cloud Infrastructure Systems, deployment, monitoring and administration of Safaricom Linux/AIX, Windows, VMware, Openstack, SAN Storage systems, Virtualization platforms and providing capacity enhancements for all cloud infrastructure solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Participation in feasibility studies and testing for new IT infrastructure components
  • Administering, Configuring and  monitoring servers based on Linux, Windows, VMware, RHEV, Openstack  and container platforms (Kubernetes, OpenShift).
  • Analysis of infrastructure and cloud capacity resources and creating dashboards for business projects.
  • Liaise with internal users, hardware and software vendors and internal systems owners to fine Monitor and plan systems hardware and software for all systems.
  • Provide solutions on all business systems for public cloud based  capacity challenges
  • SLA and OLA management and adherence for incident management and request fulfilment processes
  • Capacity planning for servers, storage and related component to ensure business needs are met within agreed OLAs
  • Responsible for building, maintaining and supporting capacity monitoring tools to ensure high-performance, fault-tolerant, scalable and distributed cloud and infrastructure solutions are well controlled.
  • Responsible for interfacing with application and developer teams to ensure applications fit within the infrastructure with scalability, reliability and security designed and implemented from the onset and also in define capcity road maps for the solutions.
  • Support automation of infrastructure at massive scale to support scaling of digital services and as well as adoption of new technologies within Infrastructure and cloud support team.
  • Liaise with users, hardware and software vendors and internal systems owners to fine tune systems hardware and software for all systems.
  • Technical support for assigned company initiatives and projects. Participation in feasibility studies and testing for new IT infrastructure components.
  • Provide systems documentation, reporting and as well as defining procedures

Qualifications

  • Graduate/Degree in computer science/Information Technology or Engineering.
  • 4+ years’ experience in  Windows, Linux  server environment
  • Certification in AWS/Azure cloud infrastructure.
  • Certification in RedHat Linux- RHCSA or RHCE.
  • Certification in either ITIL, Scrum.
  • Good understanding of System Administration Techniques – e.g. OS Performance, Windows, Virtualization, Linux enterprise, server/ storage and cloud infrastrucuture.
  • Experience in Brocade SAN switches and storage integrations.
  • Experience in Cloud and Infrastructure environments.
  • Basic Understanding of DevOps and Microservices technologies.
  • Good knowledge of Agile and its working ways.
  • Strong oral, written, interpersonal communication and leadership skills.
