The position is responsible for reviewing all risks acceptances to ensure they are protected by proper reinsurance arrangement on a back to back basis without any gaps in risks accepted and reinsurance protection availed.
Assistant Manager Job Responsibilities
- Review all risks acceptances to ensure they are protected by proper reinsurance arrangement on a back to back basis without any gaps in risks accepted and reinsurance protection availed.
- Peruse the reinsurance register on daily basis to ensure risks are correctly allocated into the relevant treaties
- Review reinsurance exclusions and recommend deletion where necessary
- Analyse inward facultative accepted by the reinsurance section and evaluate the cedant exposure, adequacy of premium, appropriateness of the terms and conditions of each and every risk accepted.
- Prepare reinsurance underwriting and claims statistics including outstanding claims and reinsurance recoveries for reinsurance renewals and review of profitability of the reinsurance program.
- Grow inward facultative business as per set target in the budgets through acquisition of new business supporters and retention of existing business.
- Place all risks that are in excess of capacity in a timely manner with reputable and financial stable underwriters or reinsurers in liaison with the AGM Underwriting
- In liaison with the Claims department, Identify, document and follow up recovery settlement of all claims above the deductibles in the treaty
- Review corporate non motor quotations prepared by the marketing department
- Issue quotations for fairly large risks
- Sign non motor Policy documents from branches and ensure timely dispatch as per set TAT
- Train and Mentor underwriting staff
- Prepare various management reports for discussion with AGM Underwriting
Qualifications for the Assistant Manager Reinsurance
- Bachelor’s degree – Bachelor of Commerce (Insurance), BSC Actuarial or any other Business Related
ACII or AIIK. Considerable progress may be considered - Minimum 5 years underwriting / reinsurance experience three of which must be a concentration on reinsurance work
- Knowledge in Reinsurance/Underwriting and pricing
- Risk perception and assessment
- Ability to lead and develop others
- Ability to build relationships, innovative, analytical thinking and customer orientation.
