Chief Public Communications Officer at Busia County

  • Assisting in the development of communications and media strategy; editing stories on various topical issues before they are released to the public
  • Gathering information on programmes, significant events in a specific sectorial area and the impact on the public
  • Liaising with media and other public platforms;
  • Reviewing and editing of speeches;
  • Implementation of customer satisfaction survey;
  • Undertaking public communications research;
  • Scheduling interviews and press conferences and providing content to the County portal website.
  • Manage and articulate the County’s social media agenda and develop new avenues to crystallize the Busia County’s footprints on  the web

Qualifications

  • Be a Kenyan citizen;
  • A Bachelors in Degree in any of the following disciplines; Mass Communication, Journalism, Public relations, Corporate Communications/reputation, communication Studies, Media Studies/Sciences, Photojournalism/Photography, Film/Television/Radio production, International/Relations, social Sciences or any other approved equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution

For Promotion;

  • have served in the grade of Senior Public Communications Officer or in a comparable and relevant position in the Public Service OR in a comparable position in the private sector or social industry for a minimum period of three (3) years or (6) years
  • have a clear understanding of the working of the media and the socio-political environment in Kenya
  • possess good oral and written communication skills in both English and Kiswahili;
  • possess advanced computer application skills; and
  • Have shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and
  • Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya,

Additional requirements

All applicants are expected to attach copies of the following additional documents

  • Tax Compliance Certificate
  • Clearance from HELB where necessary
  • Clearance from the Ethics and anti-corruption commission
  • Certificate of good conduct from the police
  • CRB Clearance Certificate
