Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) is a state office established under Article 260 of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, and the Political Parties Act, 2011. The mandate of the office, among others is to regulate the formation, registration, and funding of political parties in accordance with the Constitution and rule of law. The Act is the primary legal reference for management of political parties in accordance with Articles 91 and 92 of the Constitution, which envisages well governed political parties that respect internal democracy and their constitutional status in the Kenyan political system. The ORPP has an organizational structure headed by the Registrar of Political Parties, deputized by three (3) Assistant Registrars. There are four (4) directorates namely; Registration and Regulation; Financial Management; Planning, Research and ICT; and Human Resource Management and Administration.
GRADE ORPP 6
Duties and Responsibilities at this level will entail:-
- Coordinating implementation for library programs and activities;
- Coordinating storage, circulation, preservation and conversation of information resources and registration of library users;
- Cataloguing, classifying, indexing and abstracting information resources;
- Ensuring entry of metadata in the database;
- Managing users’ credentials;
- Digitizing information resources;
- Editing and ensuring security of data;
- Conducting user education and information literacy programme;
- Retrieving information; and
- Tagging online information resources.
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Library Studies, Library and Information Science or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
OR
- Bachelor’s degree with Library Option, in any of the following disciplines: Education, Information Science, Information Studies, Science and Technology in Information Science or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
- Certificate in Computer Application Skills from the recognized qualifications; and
- Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
