SCOPE Web Developer and Analyst SC5 at World Food Programme

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

The Regional Bureau for  East and Central Africa, located in Nairobi,provides strategic and policy guidance as well as technical support to WFP operations and activities in nine countries: Burundi, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan and Uganda.

 

At this level, job holders are expected to demonstrate responsibility and initiative to respond independently to queries with minimum guidance. There is a requirement to use judgment in dealing with unforeseen problems on a daily basis.

 

Working in the SCOPE Service Operations Unit, the selected candidate will work under the supervision of the SCOPE Service Operations manager and in close collaboration with other developers and system analysts.

JOB PURPOSE

The Web Developer’s main task will be to support the core services of the digital platform SCOPE using Python and Django framework.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Technology, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field from an accredited university
  • At least two years post graduate relevant work experience
  • Knowledge of Agile Software development
  • Fluency in English (both oral and written)

 

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS

  • ITIL certification
  • Prior experience as SCOPE Web developer and analyst
  • Knowledge of a second UN language, preferably French, is an asset
  • Familiarity with WFP operations, particularly Cash-Based-Transfers, is highly desirable
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
  • Support the SCOPE Service Operations Unit by writing python scripts for modification/ addition of data into the digital assistance platform
  • Provide data extraction reports as per end user request
  • Troubleshooting of core SCOPE tools and applications
  • Provide second line fast resolution of issues raised
  • Perform offsite and onsite SCOPE end user trainings as needed
  • Analyse user needs to understand  technical requirements
  • Translate end user specifications to technical requirements and liaise with product development team in development of the same
  • Mapping the business processes to technical requirements
  • Be a first point of contact for internal queries to facilitate the provision of efficient and effective resolution of daily issues
  • Perform other related duties as required
