Supervisor – Alternative Dispute Resolutions at Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) was established by an Act of Parliament, Chapter 469 of the laws of Kenya , which became effective on 1st July 1995 . The Authority is charged with the responsibility of collecting revenue on behalf of the Government of Kenya. A Board of Directors, consisting of both public and private sector experts, makes policy decisions to be implemented by KRA Management. The Chairman of the Board is appointed by the President of the Republic of Kenya . The Chief Executive of the Authority is the Commissioner General who is appointed by the Minister for Finance. PURPOSE OF KRA Assessment , Collection, Administration and Enforcement of laws relating to revenue.

Responsible for (Purpose of the job)

Implementation of Tax Dispute Management and Alternative Dispute Resolution(ADR) initiatives and other activities in the section

Tasks and outputs:

  • Prepare the Comprehensive Information Pack;
  • Collect and collate data on Tax Disputes and ADR;
  • Maintain ADR database/ record keeping of ADR deliberations;
  • Schedule ADR meetings
  • Prepare minutes’/progress reports of deliberations during ADR meetings;
  • Draft ADR agreements
  • Preparation of ADR reports
  • Engaging stakeholders during dispute resolution
  • Any other duties as allocated by the Manager

Skills required:

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Commerce, Economics, Statistics, Law, Business Management, Engineering, Actuarial Science or Information Technology from a recognised university.
  • A Masters Degree and/or professional qualifications will be an added advantage.
  • Must have undertaken 20 hours of training on mediation skills
  • Should have a good understanding of revenue statutes administered by the Kenya Revenue Authority.
  • Should have exposure in disputes management

Minimum years of experience

2 years’ experience in tax and or customs administration in a comparable organization.
