Forest Officer at Tana River County

Tana River County is one of the forty seven (47) counties in the Republic of Kenya. The County takes its name from River Tana which is the longest river in Kenya. It is a County in the former Coast Province, Kenya with an area of 35,375.8 square kilometers (13,658.7 sq mi) and a population of 262,684 according to the 2012 census.

 Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities will entail:

  • coordinating and monitoring the implementation of silvicultural operations;
  • rehabilitating degraded sites;
  • collecting data and compiling reports pertaining to forest protection and biodiversity conservation;
  • undertaking enrichment planting;
  • monitoring and reporting on tree diseases, pests and invasive species; and
  • supervising tree nursery

Qualifications

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: –

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry/environmental studies or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; and
  • Certificate in computer application
