Tushop is a venture-backed technology-enabled company operating in Kenya. Our mission is to strengthen the welfare of communities by giving them more value with their groceries. We do so by aggregating communities’ demand for groceries to help them access wholesale prices and provide convenient delivery to end-customers. Additionally, we work with Community Leaders, who earn an additional income for the work that they do within their communities.
Your role:
Tushop is an early-stage startup and therefore your role will be foundational. We are looking for a marketing and sales expert, who will be responsible for creating and implementing our marketing plan and owning our sales targets. As an ideal candidate, you have creative marketing ideas that are capital efficient. You enjoy speaking to customers and gathering feedback from them. You have the proven ability to strategize and own the full marketing plan from conception to execution. You are also a confident leader who has experience negotiating partnerships and managing a marketing and sales team.
Your responsibilities as our Head of Marketing and Sales are to:
- Pursue a deep understanding of our customers through fieldwork, interviews, and data analysis, and develop customer personas
- Develop quarterly marketing and sales plans, which align with customer behaviour and business growth, and lead the execution of those plans
- Own our sales targets and proactively implement strategies to hit those targets
- Develop and own our pricing strategy
- Monitor ROI for all marketing and sales efforts
- Collaborate with our product and tech teams to implement cohesive marketing and sales campaigns
- Negotiate partnerships and promotional terms with our suppliers
- Own the full cycle of Tushop’s online ecosystem (website, app, social media, SEO, employer branding, PR) in partnership with third party vendors
- Coordinate efforts to boost brand awareness and ensure our brand message is strong and consistent across all channels
- Prepare and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual budgets for the Marketing & Sales department
- Monitor competition (pricing changes, new products, and features)
- Hire a marketing and sales team, and set and manage their OKRs
Qualifications:
- BSc or MSc in Marketing or relevant field
- 4+ years of experience working in a marketing and/or sales role with an emphasis on digital marketing and sales. Startup experience is a plus
- Experience interpreting customer needs
- Drive to create viral marketing campaigns and create exponential success
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Solid knowledge of web analytics
- Experience with CRM software
- Data-driven method for decision making using KPIs and metrics
- Leadership skills with the ability to set and prioritize goals
- Exceptional writing and editing skills combined with strong presentation and public speaking skills
