Key Responsibilities
- Prepare financial transactions related to office and project expenditures – ensure proper coding and approvals with special focus on transactions related to TCIS
- Support budget management of TCIS grants
- Support GCDR in reporting for TCIS grants
- Verify supporting documentation, ensure reconciliation with approved contracts
- Maintain an effective filing system for financial transactions
- Review and process travel & expense reports, follow up on employee advances
- Assist the Senior accountant with monthly closings and preparation of monthly financial statements Assist with preparation and coordination of the audit process
- Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures
- Other related duties as assigned by supervisor
Key Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in finance, Accounting or related field
- At least 2-3 years of work experience in finance or accounting
- Good understanding of financial and accounting policies, standards and associated regulatory issues
- Work experience with INGOs would be an advantage
- Good communication skills (both written and oral) in English
- Technical accounting skills and understanding of accounting software
- Competent in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Good analytical and organizational skills, attention to detail and determination to meet deadlines
- Honesty and strong ethics are required to be successful in this position
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Demonstrated capacity and willingness to learn – open to learning new ways of doing things
- Professional attitude towards work
- Pro-active and results oriented
- Friendly, customer service orientation
