Responsibilities for the Management Accountant Job
- Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
- Analyzing company’s financial performance, preparing budgets and forecasts.
- Liaising with internal and external auditors.
- Working with all departments and the management team to help make financial decisions.
- Process payments and ensuring that all approved are made accurately and on a timely basis.
- Ensures that all payments have adequate supporting documents with correct payment voucher numbers and budget codes have been allocated accurately, and that all necessary authorizations have been obtained.
- Performs reconciliations of transactions involving suppliers and other service providers.
- Prepares bank reconciliations and maintains a complete file on the monthly financial transactions.
- To produce timely and reliable management information reports.
- Assist in negotiating supplier terms and agree payment plans where necessary.
- Maintaining company’s asset register.
- Ensuring relevant tax and statutory deductions are paid up in time.
- Assist in establishing and maintaining costing models for the company.
- Making sure spending is in line with budgets
- Recommending ways of cutting costs
Management Accountant Job Requirements
- University degree in an area related to Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or its equivalent
- CPA K or and equivalent professional qualification
- Minimum 5 years post university experience in a similar role
- Experience in auditing will be an added advantage
- Has an overall accounting experience and reporting exposure
- Knowledge of accounting systems, financial reporting and internal methodologies
