Tasks:

  • Demonstrate high level of knowledge of and experience in business development (10 years) and in the context of energy, water and food (3 years)
  • Understand and develop a comprehensive understanding of the variety of international and national partners in the operating environment
  • Build relationships and communicate effectively – including making technical presentation – with various actors in East Africa to maintain effective relationships across different cultures and communicate with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate effective problem-solving skills by (pro)actively analyzing and anticipating challenges and suggesting a way-forward to tackle issues at hand effectively
  • Develop realistic and appropriate action plans across a range of subjects that can enable private businesses to make progress on innovations design, capacity building, and business model development

Qualifications:

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leading and executing the operational strategy of the GI business by Establishing and enforcing organizational goals, policies and operating procedures
  2. In liaison with the Underwriting Manager, ensure that the underwriting policies reflect the Company’s strategic risk management framework and are observed at all times. Ensure risk control mechanisms are in place

  16. Evaluate reinsurance data and recommend changes where applicable to ensure a robust and optimal reinsurance program – Kenya and group
  17. Review facultative placements, fronting, and special acceptance -waivers to ensure no expenditure
  18. Ensure adherence of all regulatory requirements with regards to reinsurance, claims and technical acceptance of risks
  19. Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

 

Knowledge, experience and qualifications required

 

  1. Bachelors’ degree in a business related filed
  2. Masters’ degree is an added advantage
  3. Professional qualification in Insurance (ACII, FLMI or AIIK)
  4. 7-10 years’ experience in the insurance industry 3-4 of which must be in a senior management
  5. Proven experience as an Operations Manager within a Financial Services Industry (Banking and Finance/ Insurance).
  6. Extensive experience in ensuring operational risks are identified and managed.
  7. Significant experience in process mapping and restructuring to obtain optimal operations with a focus on cost containment and fraud management
  8.  A deep understanding of leveraging technology and processes to standardise operations, reducing turn-around times on all key business processes.
  9. A demonstrated track record in optimising operations to enhance the overall customer experience at all customer contact points.

MIS Performance (Revenue/Cost) Assurance at Equity Bank

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Revenue:
  • Ensure approved pricing implementation by product line
  • Proper accounts of every revenue by channel
  • Revenue assurance
  • Profit optimization through optimization initiatives
Cost:
  • Monthly accrual of all costs by product line
  • Cost lines by channel
  • Cost accounts by channel
  • Cost assurance: direct and indirect cost
 
Work in Progress Account:
  • Minimize WIP balance for all channels
  • Apportion cost to branches and countries
  • Work with Finance for cost allocations
Business Continuity:
  • Coordinate Security, Compliance, Audit reviews with Channel managers
  • Ensure closure of all identified improvement gaps are closed by the Channel Managers
  • Manage Business continuity plan and execution for Payment Group
Reporting:
  • Timely reporting of Channel financial performance for the Group, Monthly
  • Timely reporting of channel information to regulatory departments
  • Execution of all Channel Monthly Performance Review Actions
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Interface with Channel owners to validate and ensure all revenue and costs are covered
  • Ensure all channel managers address all Security, Compliance, and Audit improvement gaps timely
  • Coordinate collaboration of Channel managers with Security, Compliance and Audit departments
  • Payment Drive: Keep records of all cost, regulatory,  audit, security and compliance output

Scope and Objectives:

Kaizen is seeking regional long-term experts to manage innovation call preparation and administration as well as provide business development services to innovators for the forthcoming Water and Energy for Food (WE4F) East Africa Regional project.

The overall objective (impact) of the WE4F programme is to increase food production and income of smallholder farmers through and a more sustainable use of water and energy in food production. The WE4F program expects the following outputs to be achieved through the request services in the present assignment:

  • Business capacities of innovators (SMEs) that offer innovative solutions (technological, digital, financial, etc. new to a context) for up-scaling climate friendly, energy and/or water efficient innovations are improved through financial and technical assistance,
  • Access to appropriate financing options for climate friendly, energy and/or water efficient innovations is improved and new, suitable financing mechanisms for end user of innovations are identified.

​​​​​​​Innovation calls cover the entire East Africa region. In these calls, eligible SME innovations are chosen to be further supported in the process. The Innovation Call Expert will conceptualize, prepare, promote and manage the innovation calls.

Tasks:

  • Design, preparing and managing all procedures for the innovation calls of WE4F in E. Africa
  • Prepare and manage all contracts with selected innovators form the calls
  • Support team leader in backstopping on business development and investment readiness of SMEs
  • Support team leader on technical support and advice on the energy – water – food nexus

Qualifications:

  • General qualification: Bachelor’s degree in social or technical sciences related to water, energy and/or agriculture
  • Language skills: English C1
  • Professional experience (5 years) in implementing development cooperation projects in energy or water in agriculture
  • Specific qualification: Good knowledge in digital/communication technologies (5 years) and work experiences in preparing and running innovation calls in the region (5 years) as well as in implementing innovation calls targeting SMEs in the region (5 years)
  • Regional experience/Knowledge of the region: Work experience (10 years) in one or more countries of the region

The Chief Operating Officer will be accountable for setting and driving strategic direction and providing executive leadership and management to the General Insurance Operations Organization, focusing on ensuring the department’s performance meets or exceeds customer expectations while concurrently driving operational efficiencies. The COO will play a significant role in developing and implementing processes and technology solutions necessary to achieve the organization’s business goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leading and executing the operational strategy of the GI business by Establishing and enforcing organizational goals, policies and operating procedures
  2. In liaison with the Underwriting Manager, ensure that the underwriting policies reflect the Company’s strategic risk management framework and are observed at all times. Ensure risk control mechanisms are in place
  3. In liaison with the Claims Manager, ensure that the claims policies reflect the company’s strategic risk management framework and are observed at all times Ensure risk control mechanisms are in place
  4. Defines the service operations strategy to ensure the business provides world-class service to all customer segments.
  5. Ensure operational efficiency in claims, underwriting, reinsurance and customer service departments in accordance with established SLAs.

  14. Driving process mapping and restructuring to obtain optimal operations with a clear bias for cost containment and fraud management. Identifies and implements on-going improvement initiatives to improve performance for Operations
  15. Oversee and give technical guidance on all complex and large risks – both underwriting and claims
  16. Evaluate reinsurance data and recommend changes where applicable to ensure a robust and optimal reinsurance program – Kenya and group
  17. Review facultative placements, fronting, and special acceptance -waivers to ensure no expenditure
  18. Ensure adherence of all regulatory requirements with regards to reinsurance, claims and technical acceptance of risks
  19. Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

 

Knowledge, experience and qualifications required

 

  1. Bachelors’ degree in a business related filed
  2. Masters’ degree is an added advantage
  3. Professional qualification in Insurance (ACII, FLMI or AIIK)
  4. 7-10 years’ experience in the insurance industry 3-4 of which must be in a senior management
  5. Proven experience as an Operations Manager within a Financial Services Industry (Banking and Finance/ Insurance).
  6. Extensive experience in ensuring operational risks are identified and managed.
  7. Significant experience in process mapping and restructuring to obtain optimal operations with a focus on cost containment and fraud management
  8.  A deep understanding of leveraging technology and processes to standardise operations, reducing turn-around times on all key business processes.
  9. A demonstrated track record in optimising operations to enhance the overall customer experience at all customer contact points.

Position Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

Our client, a duly Licensed Deposit-Taking SACCO based in Nairobi with a membership of 3500 and a Balance Sheet of over Khs.2 billion is seeking to recruit a results oriented Credit Analyst to head the SACCO’s Credit Department. Our client’s mission is to afford members an opportunity to mobilize savings and access affordable credit facilities for the promotion of their socio-economic welfare.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for the management of the credit department and decisions concerning credit limits, acceptable levels of risk, terms of payment and enforcement actions.

Main Duties And Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough analysis and assessment of credit requests, and present findings and recommendations to the board Credit Committee, especially findings that involve a borrower’s ability to repay. Liaises with credit references bureaus to exchange credit information on clients.
  • Approve, release or reject loans based on available data and monitor loan repayments and bad debts
  • Ensure all loans, lending procedures, portfolio risk and sectoral classification comply with regulations.
  • Provide weekly loan demand projections for budgeting by Finance department
  • Orient and/or supervise credit staff to ensure that credit functions are undertaken within the set policies
  • Prepare monthly loan disbursement listing/insurance claims for deceased members for submission to the Insurer and follow up claims for payment.
  • Prepare periodic reports for submission in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Facilitate loan products development or review and/or give recommendations for portfolio improvement.
  • Attend to members’ matters referred by the Credit Officer(s) and provide prompt and accurately advise.
  • Promptly respond to Audit Queries touching on his/her duties.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the CEO.

Academic, Professional Qualifications And Experience

  • Degree in business administration or its equivalent
  • CCP finalist or its recognized equivalent
  • Three (3) years’ experience in a credit function, preferably in a financial institution
  • Membership in a professional body is an added advantage

 Desirable Skills

An experienced Credit Analyst, proficient in accounting, risk analysis, diligent, well versed with Microsoft excel, knowledge of the industry, a strong written and oral communication skills, problem solving and ability to handle stress.
