The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) is the global leader in the fight against pediatric HIV/AIDS and has reached more than 27 million pregnant women, with services to prevent transmission of HIV to their babies.
EGPAF is supporting activities in 19 countries and over 5,000 sites to implement prevention, care and treatment services; to further advance innovative research; and to execute global advocacy activities that bring dramatic change to the lives of millions of women, children and families worldwide.
In Kenya, EGPAF works in partnership with the Ministry of Health and various County Governments to support HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment in 12 counties. EGPAF is mainly funded by PEPFAR through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
EGPAF in Kenya is seeking to fill the following positions of Senior Grants Manager

Roles Summary: The Senior Grants Manager will help build and manage a strong team of grants professionals and will oversee grants management at EGPAF Kenya.
S/he we will manage a diverse portfolio of sub-agreements, including sub-agreements to government agencies, county governments, local organizations (CBOs and FBOs) as well as international organizations, with an emphasis on donor compliance, reporting and capacity building.
The position holder will be required to collaborate with project and operations teams to maintain financial oversight over sub-grantees, capacity strengthening of the sub-grantee staff and to ensure strict compliance with donor requirements
Responsibilities
Manage the sub-recipient process in coordination with the head office awards and compliance team including:
- Performing due diligence on potential sub-recipients in accordance with federal regulations;
- Preparing sub-award agreements and securing internal approvals
- Reviewing requests for disbursement of cash requests to sub-recipients for accuracy and compliance with the agreement documents
- Lead the grants team in determining capacity building needs for the sub-grantee staff and work with various stakeholders (programs, health systems teams, operations departments, etc.) to design customized training packages, including post-training follow up and associated documentation
- Review, analyze and submit to HQ the monthly financial reports and corresponding supporting documentation from the sub-grantees
- As a member of the budget monitoring committee, monitor grant periods and spending trends for all sub-grantees and work with project teams to request and secure any award funding and modifications on a timely basis
- Develops a targeted, risk-based, compliance review plan for sub-grantees, disseminates the plan to management and ensures strict adherence/implementation of the plan within the stipulated timelines
- Support the new business development team on proposal and budget preparation as requested, particularly for those involving components on sub-grantees
- Ensures that all required sub-grantee documentation is reposited in the Contracts and Grants Information System, and also ensures that copies of supporting documents for sub-grantee expenses are available in hard copy for audit
- Maintains open and regular communications with Senior Management, and headquarters staff in DC for compliance updates, learning of best practices from other countries, problem solving options, professional development, etc.
- Ensures that all audit/compliance findings are tracked and is responsible for monitoring implementation status by the various managers, and will report on implementation status on a regular basis
- Ensures the timely administration of all sub-grant closeouts
- Performs other duties as assigned from time to time.
Qualifications & Skills
- Advanced degree in Finance/Accounting or other relevant field
- Must have completed ACCA or CPA with at least at least 7 years’ hands on experience in grants management at supervisory level; an additional training in organizational development will be an added advantage
- In depth knowledge of United States Government grant and financial regulations, systems and procedures for managing complex grant programs with many partners and customers.
- Experience working with an international non-profit/non-governmental organization (NGO) and sub-granting of Government entities.
- A strategic thinker, self-directed, self-motivated and a team player.
- Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and establish harmonious and effective working relationships both within and outside the organization.
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills
- Ability to develop and implement training programs for multi-faceted audiences
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of time.
- Emotionally intelligent individual, with ability to resolve conflicts professionally
