Kenya Literature Bureau (KLB) is established under Kenya Literature Bureau Act, Cap 209 of 1980 with the mandate to publish, print, and disseminate literary, educational, cultural, and scientific books and other materials. Reports to: Senior Editor
Responsibilities for the Editor (English, E-Books) Job
- Evaluate unsolicited manuscripts to determine whether they satisfy the Bureau’s publishing requirements;
- Undertake substantive copy editing of manuscripts to meet set standards
- Co-ordinate activities of typesetters, designers and illustrators and other suppliers to meet agreed upon production schedules;
- Develop and design books and materials to create attractive products;
- Prepare project proposals for presentation to management for decision making;
- Assess manuscripts and prepare manuscript assessment reports;
- Co-ordinate the copyediting process of manuscripts through the four stages; First proofs, Second proofs, Third proofs and Final proofs;
- Organize and facilitate editorial workshops;
Editor (English, E-Books) Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Publishing or Education (English and Literature) or Communication, Information Sciences (Publishing).
- Higher National Diploma or Diploma in Journalism or a relevant field from a recognized body.
- Minimum five (5) years of relevant work experience.
- Problem solving, integrity, good communication, organisation and planning skills.
- A good team player, maintains high work standards, reliable, easily adapts to new environments, pays attention to detail and self-motivated.
