Reports to: Assistant Publishing Manager
Responsibilities for the Senior Editor Job
- Plan and implement sound publication plans and product development initiatives;
- Prepare publishing proposals, manuscripts assessment and acquisition reports for decision making;
- Acquire, develop and publish books as per set annual targets after examining market trends and demographics to establish the needs of the audience;
- Co-ordinate the acquisition and assessment of unsolicited and Solicited manuscripts to meet market needs;
- Edit manuscripts/typescripts for production of print ready electronic files;
- Co-ordinate and monitor writing workshops and author’s activities for development of titles;
- Interpret curriculum and syllabi, in area of specialisation;
Senior Editor Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Publishing or Education (Chemistry and Biology Combination) or Communication, Information Sciences (Publishing).
- Higher National Diploma or Diploma in Journalism or a relevant field from a recognized body.
- Minimum seven (7) years of relevant work experience with at least three (3) years at a senior management/leadership position.
- Problem solving, analytical, leadership, decision making, integrity, good communication, organization and planning skills.
- A good team player, maintains high work standards, reliable, easily adapts to new environments, pays attention to detail and self-motivated.
