Responsible for operations and management of instruments section for safe operations through provision of accurate instrumentation and sound maintenance of all instruments/equipment.
Responsibilities
Managerial / Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervision of assistant engineers and instruments technicians.
Oversee service, maintain and repair of instruments
Operational Responsibilities / Tasks
- Carry out assigned weekly and annual maintenance jobs in an effective and timely manner so as to meet set deadlines as per schedule
- Carry out routine maintenance checks and inspections on assigned instruments and control equipment
- Assist in troubleshooting, repair, maintenance and installation works on assigned instrumentation and control equipment.
- Ensure safe and procedural use of calibration and testing Equipment
- Inspect and diagnose instrument faults in assigned station, and suggest corrective action
- Ensure safety standards within the assigned stations
- Maintain safe custody of calibration and testing equipment and documents
- Repair and maintenance of telephones.
- Calibration and verification of instruments including gauges and scales rewinding of motors/alternators, transformers and welding machines.
Financial Responsibility:
- Responsible for section budgets.
- Responsibility for Physical Assets assigned by the Company
Decision Making / Job Influence
- Make decisions using standard operating procedures.
- Plans, assigns work to subordinates and Monitor subordinates work performance.
- Appraise/evaluate subordinates performance.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering – Power & Electronics Option and technical training in instrumentation & control
- Professional Qualifications / Membership to professional bodies (ERB, IEEE etc.)
- At least 5 years relevant experience and 3 years in managerial position.
Competencies/Attributes:
- Conversant with plant instruments systems.
- ICT skills.
- Organization and coordination skills.
- Supervisory skills.
Other Requirements:
- A Certificate of Good Conduct from Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
- A Clearance Certificate from the Higher Education Loans Boards (HELB).
- A Tax Compliance Certificate from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
- A Clearance Certificate by the Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
- Clearance from the Ethics & and Ant-Corruption Commission (EACC).
