Latest Jobs at Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) – 17 Positions

Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) is a state corporation under the Ministry of Health established under the KEMSA Act 2013 whose mandate is: Procure, warehouse and distribute drugs and medical supplies for prescribed public health programs, the national strategic stock reserve, prescribed essential health packages and national referral hospitals.

1. Laboratory Specialist

The following opening has arisen within the Authority’s Quality Assurance Department as a result of operational requirements.

GRADE:    SA4

TERMS OF SERVICE: Contract

BASIC SALARY:    As per scale

Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager; the job holder will have the following responsibilities:

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Participate in evaluation, review and submission of reports for tenders for laboratory Health Products and Technologies (HPT’s).
  • Follow up on post-distribution surveillance for laboratory HPT’s in the field.
  • Conduct quality checks on procured laboratory HPT’s.
  • Support in the quantification and requirements for laboratory HPT’s.
  • Liaise with County Health Teams for specifications of required Laboratory =is.
  • Participate in various County forums on matters related to laboratory HPT’s.
  • Receive, label and analyze laboratory samples (chemicals, equipment etc.)
  • Design and execute laboratory testing according to standard procedures, make observations and interpret findings.
  • Conduct experiments under defined conditions to verify/reject various types of hypotheses using refined scientific methods.
  • Organize and store all chemicals substances, fluids and compressed gases according to safety instructions.
  • Record all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic) with accuracy and responsibility.
  • Maintain equipment and assist in ordering laboratory supplies.
  • Ensure that all safety guidelines are followed strictly at all times and maintain a clean and orderly environment.
  • Undertaking risk management for the department.
  • Any other duties as shall be assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

Suitable candidates should possess the following qualifications, knowledge and experience:

  • A Degree in Biology, Chemistry or Bio-Chemistry.
  • Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology.
  • Must have at least five (5) years’ work experience in a laboratory setting.
  • Must be proficient in the use of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ERP systems.
  • Must be a registered member of the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and
  • Technologists Board (KMLTTB) and in good standing.

2. Inventory Clerks

GRADE:                                           SA9

TERMS OF SERVICE:           Contract

BASIC SALARY:        As per scaleNumber of vacancies:  Three (3)

Grade/Scale:      SA12

BASIC SALARY:                   As per scale

PURPOSE STATEMENT

Reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor, the job holder will be responsible for managing the warehousing and inventory of Health Products and Technologies (HPT’s) as per the approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s). They will also be expected to verify the submitted documentation against the existing records in order to ensure accuracy of the stored inventory of Health Products and Technologies (HPT’s).

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Support the day-to-day management of the Health Products and Technologies (HPT’s).
  • Ensure timely receipt of quarantine inventory.
  • Ensure that delivery notes, invoices, stock records and actual stock levels tally at all times and that cycle counts, monthly and quarterly physical stock checks are done, reconciled, and discrepancies investigated.
  • Maintenance of high standards of housekeeping in the allocated area.
  • Ensure that inventory is stored correctly in adherence to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Warehousing Practice (GWP) requirements and other best practices.
  • Ensure that security procedures are followed to eliminate pilferage and theft of inventory.
  • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly inventory reports for all products and materials under his/her care.
  • Coordinate with shopkeepers to ensure inventory accuracy of 100% is achieved and maintained.
  • Support the implementation of the departmental risk mitigation measures

QUALIFICATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

The ideal candidate should be in possession of the following:

  • Diploma in Purchasing and Supplies management or relevant field.
  • Computer literate, preferably in inventory management software
  • Should have a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a busy warehousing facility involving use of modern warehousing techniques or FMCG environment.
  • Should be a team player
  • Should have good communication skills.
  • Must have a Police Clearance Certificate issued by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (SCI)

3. Warehouse Pickers

GRADE:    SA10
NO. OF VACANCIES:    Twelve (12)
TERMS OF SERVICE:    Contract

BASIC SALARY:    As per scale

PURPOSE STATEMENT

Reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor, the job holder will be responsible for picking Health Products and Technologies (HPT’s) as per the approved picking list. They will also be expected to verify the submitted documentation against the existing records and physical commodity in order to ensure accuracy in picking of Health Products and Technologies (HPT’s).

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Support the day-to-day management of the allocated commodities.
  • Ensure timely picking of released Health Products and Technologies (FIPT’s) as per picking schedule and list.
  • Ensure that batch numbers, expiry dates and quantities of allocated stocks tally with the physical commodities records at all times.
  • Ensure stocks picked are well arranged in shippers on pallets and transferred to consolidation area timely.
  • Maintenance of high standards of housekeeping in the picking and consolidation areas.
  • Ensure that stocks picked are stored correctly in adherence to Good Manufacturing practice, Good Warehousing Practice and Good distribution practice requirements and other best practices.
  • Ensure that security procedures are followed to eliminate pilferage and theft of the picked Health Products and Technologies (HPT’s).
  • Ensure that stocks assembled by shopkeepers against picking tasks tally and for any variance, it has to be reconciled immediately.
  • Support the implementation of the departmental risk mitigation measures

QUALIFICATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

The ideal candidate should be in possession of the following:

  • Certificate in Purchasing and Supplies management or relevant field.
  • Computer literate, preferably in inventory management software
  • Should have a minimum of one (1) year experience in a busy warehousing facility or fast moving consumer goods environment.
  • Should be a team player
  • Should have good communication skills.
  • Should be a person of high integrity and impeccable character.
  • Must have a Police Clearance Certificate issued by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI)

4. Loaders

GRADE:    SA12
NO. OF VACANCIES:    Three (3)
TERMS OF SERVICE:    Contract
BASIC SALARY:    As per scale

PURPOSE STATEMENT

Reporting and working under the supervision of the Distribution Assistant, the Loader will be required to load medical commodities onto trucks; based on the approved picking and dispatch lists and documentation.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

The jobholder will have the following principal accountabilities:

  • Ensure all picked commodities are loaded onto trucks.
  • Offload medical commodities received from stations or during inter-warehouse transfers.
  • Liaise with the Supervisor to ensure that all assigned tasks are completed as scheduled.
  • Ensure packed commodities are handled with outmost care in compliance to GMP and GDP.
  • Ensure that they are accountable for any damages during loading.
  • Support the implementation of the departmental risk mitigation measures

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE  :

  • 0-Level grade    (plus).
  • Good communication skills.
  • Working experience in a Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) environment will be an added advantage.
  • Must be physically fit.
  • Should be a team player
  • Should have good communication skills.
  • Should be a person of high integrity and impeccable character.
  • Must have a Police Clearance Certificate issued by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI)
