- Install and maintain Solar Water Heaters (SWH) systems and components
- Review plumbing plans and specifications to determine the layout for SWHs
- Identify required tools and special equipment
- Select the type and size of pipe required
- Locate and mark positions for tank structures, pumps, connections and fixtures
- Install supports and hangers for pipe, fixtures and equipment
- Assemble and install valves and fittings
- Install, repair and maintain underground storm sanitary and water piping systems
- Test SWHs, pipe systems and fixtures for leaks
Main activities
- Perform scheduled Installations of SWH systems and fixtures
- Apply all codes of installations, repairs and maintenance
- Check that all requirements as specified by the manufacturer of systems and fixtures are met
- Ensure all installations are properly sized, aligned and supported
- Ensure all installations meet the requirements of the appropriate codes
- Administer scheduled work
Qualifications / Knowledge
One must have proficient knowledge in the following areas:
- Plumbing and SWH installation
- Water distribution both hot and cold in residential, commercial and industrial buildings
- Relevant plumbing procedures in installation and maintenance
- ERC Certificate will be an added advantage
- Current and valid driving licence
- Good level of spoken and written English
