MumsVillage is a parenting website in Kenya that provides resources, support and expert advice for pregnant women and parents in Kenya.
Their co-founders created it as a home for Kenyan Mums to relax and express themselves among a community of like-minded friends. In this village one will find sympathetic Doulas, Doctors, Nutritionists, Fitness experts and Fellow Mothers.
They are looking for an organised, tech savvy individual to take up the role of Social Impact Lead. This individual’s main responsibilities will be to oversee and manage the program implementation of a social community based project model targeting focusing on low-income users and community-based projects.
Responsibilities for the Social Impact Lead Job
- Identify, recruit, and onboard/train members onto the community based project. This will include planning and supporting community mapping exercises and product orientations across Nairobi and its environs with low-income sellers
- Conduct user research to understand end-user consumption habits, purchasing patterns/needs, health-related needs and decisions, etc. This includes planning and overseeing product tests
- Establish baseline targets and metrics – financial, operational and social – in conjunction with the product lead and informed by user research (i.e. field visits)
- Scope and engage key partnerships to enable to the successful launch and implementation of the program
- Interface with the technology development and maintenance provider to address application related issues. This involves consulting on necessary fixes and refinements, including collecting key information and working on backend to upload consumers onto the platform
- Oversee the curation and creation of the Program content with relevant members of the core MumsVillage team
Social Impact Lead Job Qualifications
Does this Sound Like You?
- You have a Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Business, or a relevant field
- You have a minimum of 5 years of experience leading social enterprise development activities and working in BoP markets, particularly urban slums
- Fluency in Kiswahili is required; any other local languages are a plus
- Having strong local networks is desirable: experience and relationships working with players in the Kenya BoP markets and in telecommunications is highly desired
- You are flexible and able to transition across a variety of settings – from the village to the board room
- Ability to effectively synthesize data and prepare clear, compelling and high-quality reports and presentations
- You have a strong work ethic and willingness to work a nontraditional work schedule
- Experience with mobile-based ICT is a plus
- Start up experience is a plus
