Department Summary

CMMB’s Finance and Administration Department plays a critical role in ensuring that CMMB efficiently and effectively utilizes its resources in achieving its program goals through least cost and value for money.

Overview

Reporting to the Finance Officer, the Finance Assistant will provide day to day support service to the implementation of project interventions and be responsible for reviewing field expenses and liquidations from
project staff.

Further, s/he will support payable and administrative functions as well as contribute to the preparation of timely donor reports.

Responsibilities

The Finance Assistant will work closely with the Finance Officer and project team to perform the following tasks:

  • Provide guidance on and implement CMMB’s financial policies and procedures and donor compliance requirements
  • Record all financial transactions accurately, completely and in a timely manner in line with the Chart of Accounts through the Abila software (MIP) accounting system
  • Ensure sound financial management and compliance activities of assigned grants/projects and office operational activities to include:
    o Monitoring of project budgets and expenses
    o Preparation of vouchers, cheques, Mpesa and EFT payments and processing of payments Invoicing/tracking of accounts receivable and cash receipts;
    o Maintain, Record and Reconcile petty cash accounts
    o Liquidation of employee receivables in line with manual records/expense forms from staff
    o Conducting site visits and training/mentoring of project staff.
  • Preparation of bank reconciliations, filing of all accounting vouchers and documents
  • Ensure all financial assets are adequately recorded, safeguarded and all financial documents are securely filed
  • Ensure availability of accurate, complete and timely financial information for decision making purposes by senior management
  • Record, count and update the Asset and Inventory Register regularly.
  • Participate in other program implementation activities and miscellaneous finance duties as required and assigned by the Finance Officer

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in commerce (BCOM) or Business Administration majoring in accounting or Finance.
  • Professional Accountancy Qualifications (CPA II/ACCA II).
  • Minimum of two years of accounting experience in a similar capacity working with NGOs on donor funded project.
  • Possess a high degree of integrity, and a strong commitment to CMMB’s mission.
  • Demonstrate strong inter-personal skills and the ability to transfer knowledge and visit project sites.
  • Ability to function as a collaborative team player
  • Proven written and verbal proficiency in English
  • Hands on application of Microsoft Office, (Word, Excel and PowerPoint);
  • Working knowledge of Abila (Sage) accounting software will be added advantage
  • Knowledge of MPESA Bulk payment System

Community Health Officer

Department Summary

The Programs Department plays a critical role in achieving CMMB’s strategy around improving the lives of women and children, by leading the provision of high quality programs focused on children’s and mothers’
health, and particularly in the development and implementation of our CHAMPS model.

This team is also responsible for generating revenue from and partnering effectively with government(s), major foundations, and other major donors, and will help to position and enhance CMMB’s technical capacity and reputation in the field of global healthcare.

CMMB has been working in Kenya for almost 15 years. CMMB works to ensure that the most vulnerable populations, especially mothers and children, have access to quality services in health care, health promotion
and illness prevention.

Overview

Under the leadership of the Project Coordinator, the Community Health Officer will ensure the community-based delivery of MNCH services in CHAMPS through effective coordination and function of the community health volunteer system inter-phasing with the link health facilities.

As such, he/she will directly oversee the work of CHVs and the CHEWs while actively engaging and providing technical support to health facility management committees.

For this critical synergistic function, the incumbent will ensure routine conduct of health data feedback forums with community leadership members.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and hands-on support for implementation of Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement of WASH, MNCH and livelihoods interventions within the community.
  • Provide technical support and supervision for implementation of quality community WASH and MNCH activities.
  • Support the establishment and strengthening of systems and structures to enhance community-facility linkages in project area for improved outcomes among project beneficiaries
  • Monitor the performance and reporting by community health volunteers (CHVs), community units and community focused activities towards realization of program outcomes.
  • Support implementation, at community level, of evidence-based techniques and strategies to ensure quality programming in WASH, MNCH and livelihoods.
  • Support the identification training needs among CHVs and other community groups, plan trainings and facilitate training sessions on the various program focus areas.
  • Ensure project activities within the community is compliant with national guidelines and policies
  • Develop and distribute appropriate job aids and education materials relevant to the program focus areas for community health volunteers and other targeted community groups
  • Facilitate partnership meetings between facility and community health volunteers to review performance on a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual basis at facility level.
  • In liaison with the community strategy focal person and Community Health Extension Workers, provide technical support and supervision to CHVs and Community Health Committees in discharge of their mandate.
  • Represent CMMB at county, sub-county and facility meetings as may be called upon.

Key Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualification of a Degree in Community Development, Social Work, Social sciences, Nursing or Clinical Medicine. A Bachelor’s degree in health sciences is desirable.
  • Hands on community experience in HIV service delivery and technical coordination.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ hands-on experience in Community Health Strategy, MNCH clinical and programming in the rural context, working with Ministry of Health.
  • Excellent social mobilization skills
  • Excellent coordination and networking skills including liaison with stakeholders.
  • Technical expertise in critical components of integrated RMNCH and WASH.
  • Must have good analytical and report writing skills.
  • Experience working with an NGO is a plus.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel.
  • Proven experience and familiarity with MOH/GOK health systems and motivating community staff and partners to achieve results,
  • Proposal writing will be an advantage.
