Head.Content Development at Kenya Airways

The role is responsible for overall development, management and execution of editorial strategies that support development and dissemination of content in varied forms to build greater knowledge, understanding and appreciation of Kenya Airways amongst its publics. The role works closely with the Departmental heads and to produce and package content for a wide variety of publications and platforms including print, broadcast and web, spearheads editorial campaigns and advocacy for purposes of advancing Kenya Airways’ objectives whilst safeguarding its interest and reputation.

Responsibilities

  • Quality and quantity of editorial content (articles, blogs, newsletters, and media posts) developed for owned and earned publications including supervision and allocation of assignments to writers;
  • Maintaining a diary of the organization’s projects, milestones and events to ensure production of optimal editorial and marketing content;
  • Assessing the market environment and social climate related to the aviation industry and anticipating likely developments for coverage;
  • Engaging Departmental Heads on key projects and milestones and guiding writers on coverage, angles and writing of stories ensuring they are delivered within the set deadlines;
  • Reviewing content to ensure that they meet editorial objectives, house style and journalistic ethics while;
  • Work in liaison with the Communications team to identify the opportunities for content and, and actively researching for background information through internal and external sources
  • Drawing up a content and writers’ schedule including monitoring the productivity and general content of writers and performance appraisal.
  • Assist departments and subsidiaries in planning appropriate events and promotions that assist in acquiring customer loyalty and feedback, and to attend and/or moderate these events as deemed necessary.
  • Participating in product development meetings with relevant departments;
  • To represent the organization in related social events, and to fulfil speaking duties on behalf of the same where necessary;
  • Ensuring delivery of digital content; and
  • Adhering to Social Media Policy as updated from time to time.

 

Qualifications

 

 

Academic & Professional Qualifications

  • A master’s degree in journalism or mass communication.
  • Excellent writing, presentation, verbal communication and negotiation skills.
  • 8-10 years of substantial professional experience in positions of increasing complexity and responsibility.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of content development and management in a Media House, Public Relations company, international development organization or NGO.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing the production and delivery of corporate media.
  • Must possess strong sense of initiative, enthusiasm and thinking on the feet.
  • Be a strong leader who can communicate clearly across all levels of the organization with proven ability to influence others.
  • A positive ‘can-do’ solutions-focussed mentality.
  • Ability to mentor and develop team under your supervision with ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
  • Demonstrate tact and diplomacy when interacting with external audiences and be able to cultivate new relationships with key stakeholders.
