1. System/Database Administrator
Scale BUC 12
Responsibilities
- Provide guidance and procedures in systems installation, configuration and maintenance of university servers
- Ensure ICT security (such as using firewalls); Planning, installing and maintaining university server
- Install and maintain data communication infrastructure and services.
- Provide systems administration services for university servers
- Install, configure, optimize and maintain internet and intranet.
- Undertake Database Administration including database design and development; Plan, implement and maintain university corporate databases and information systems; Evaluate, install, test and configure university databases.
- Co-ordinate, perform and monitor database processes and operations; control and monitor database usage
- Ensure database security; perform database and mail backups, monitoring, tuning and data recovery
- Facilitate information systems developers with database issues
- Install and maintain database and mail servers.
- Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Computer Science/ Information Technology or its equivalent from a recognized institution
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/ Information Technology or its equivalent from a recognized institution
- Six (6) years work experience in a relevant field.
- Relevant ICT certification
- Registered members of relevant professional body and in good standing
- Must have shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results
2. Deputy University Librarian
Scale BUC 14
Responsibilities
- Manage staff in the library,
- Coordinate Library activities and services in University College
- Performance appraisal of Library staff,
- Coordinate Income Generation activities in the library
- Undertake stocktaking and weeding
- Plan, coordinate and control service delivery processes in the library
- Ensure acquisitions processes
- Undertake Statistical analysis and reporting
- Develop curricular and implement Information training and instruction
- Implement Library policies
- Ensure Information Skills Instruction and User Education
- Maintain Library inventory
- Maintain Library equipment and facilities
- Supervise implementation of performance targets, monitoring, evaluation and reporting of results
- Undertake budget preparation and harmonization for the Library.
- Promote use and application of Information Communication Technologies (ICT) to all staff and users (such as automation and digitization of services (e-Library).
- Ensure continuous evaluation of library services.
- Carry out administrative and other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
- A PhD. degree in Library and Information Sciences or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
- Twelve (12) years’ relevant work experience
- MUST have served as a Senior Librarian I or equivalent level for at least four (4) years
- Published at least four (4) articles in refereed journals or a book (minimum publication score 12 points).
- Evidence of scholarship and/or research in the area of one’s specialization
- A member of professional society/association (KLA, LA, ALA); and in good standing
- Have a certificate in strategic leadership course or its equivalent lasting not less than four weeks from a recognized institution.
4. Chief Accountant
Scale BUC 14
Responsibilities
- Responsible for accounting and financial functions of the University College.
- Implement adequate and efficient accounting system as a means of maintaining sound financial records, which must recognize, classify, post, summarize and report transactions
- Supervise all operations finance function in the system
- Maintenance of high accounting standards within the department
- Supervision and development of staff in the department
- Carry out administrative and other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time
Qualifications
- A Master’s degree and a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Accounting or Finance or Business Administration or its equivalent from a recognized University.
- Holder of CPA (K),
- Twelve (12) years’ relevant experience,
- MUST have served as a Senior Accountant for at least three (3) years
- Be registered member of ICPAK or any other recognized accounting professional body; and in Good standing
- Certificate in relevant computer applications from recognized institution
- Demonstrable practical knowledge in application relevant ICT solutions is a mandatory.
- Have a certificate in strategic leadership course or its equivalent lasting not less than four weeks from a recognized institution
- A Ph.D degree in in a relevant areas from a recognized university will be an added advantage
5. Assistant Registrar (with Legal Background)
Scale BUC 12
- Provide administrative and secretarial support to the Council
- Provide Legal guidance on Corporate Matters.
- Supervise data processing for corporate planning.
- Supervise Corporate information processing and dissemination;
- Supervise corporate records management.
- Facilitate implementation corporate policies and procedures
- Supervise staff in the Unit
- Ensure proper maintenance of equipment and inventory of the Unit
- Any other duties that maybe assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
- Relevant Master’s degree in either Public Administration, Business Administration (MBA), Human Resource Management or its equivalent qualifications from a recognized University.
- Bachelor’s degree in law from a recognized university;
- Be an advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a current practicing certificate,
- Demonstrable professional competence and high administrative ability in work performance and results.,
- Served at least ten (10) years in administration in a similar institution.
- Registered members of relevant professional body and in good standing.
- Knowledge and experience in application of relevant Computer packages,
- Demonstrable professional competence and high administrative ability in work performance and results
- CPS III and/or equivalent management/administrative qualification will be an added advantage
6. Senior Assistant Registrar
Scale BUC 13
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the planning, coordination, implementation, monitoring and control of administrative functions in the administrative or academic division in the University.
- Prepare Budget plans and work plans for the Division
- Ensuring effective and efficient management and Implementation of policies and procedures in the Division
- Supervision of all activities of the Division
- Preparation of reports and maintenance of records
- Timely production of Minutes and Meetings follow-up for implementation;
- Management of staff in the division
- Carry out administrative and other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
- Relevant Master’s degree in either Public Administration, Business Administration (MBA), Human Resource Management or its equivalent qualifications from a recognized University,
- Twelve (12) years relevant work experience
- MUST have served for a period of five (5) years at the level of Assistant Registrar I or equivalent position.
- Registered member with a Practicing Certificate of a relevant Professional body; and in Good Standing,
- Have a certificate in strategic leadership course or its equivalent lasting not less than four weeks from a recognized institution
- Knowledge and experience in application of relevant Computer packages
- Demonstrated outstanding administrative ability in managing staff, implementation of performance targets and results
- CPS (K) qualification shall be an added advantage; and
- Knowledge and experience in Quality Management Systems and Performance Contracting are added advantage.
7. Procurement Officer
Scale BUC 12
Responsibilities
- Supervision of Staff in the Section,
- In charge of Inventory Management
- Sourcing of Goods, Works and Services as per Procurement Plan
- Implementing standard operating procedures and ensuring their conformity with the relevant
- Ensuring strict adherence to Procurement Plan
- Maintaining Suppliers Register
- Preparing Procurement Reports
- Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
- A Master’s degree and Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Economics or Commerce with a specialization in Supplies Management option or its equivalent from a recognized University.
- Certified Procurement and Supply Professional Part IV (CPSP-K) or equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Ten (10) years relevant work experience
- Must have served three (3) years at level of Assistant Procurement Officer or equivalent position in a comparable institution.
- Must be a registered member of Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM); and in Good standing.
- Certified Procurement and Supply Professional; with valid practicing license.
- Certificate in Computer skills in relevant packages from a recognized institution.
- Demonstrate knowledge and experience in application of relevant computer packages
- Have attended Senior Management course(s) lasting for not less than Four (4) years.
- Shown ability, initiative and merit in managing Purchasing and Supplies function in a comparably busy institution
8. Internal Auditor
BUC 12
Responsibilities
- Leading audit teams
- Implementing work plans/audit programs and audit engagements for audit teams
- Carrying out Audit of departments and/or sections of the University.
- Conducting investigations and special audits.
- Preparing draft audit reports
- Reviewing of audit systems and procedures.
- Implementation of Audit policies
- Implementation of audit plans and programmes
- Appraising, summarizing and discussion of audit findings with relevant departments and/or sections
- Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
- A Master’s degree and Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or its equivalent from a recognized University.
- CPA (K).
- Ten (10) years’ relevant work experience
- MUST Auditor II or equivalent position in a comparable institution.
- Valid registration with the Institute of Certified Public have served at least three (3) at the Level of Internal Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK).
- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and in Good Standing.
- Valid registration with the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) or Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) or any other recognized professional body
- Demonstrable knowledge of Financial and all relevant government policies and regulations
- Certificate in Computer skills in relevant packages from a recognized institution.
- Demonstrable Knowledge in Computer Aided Auditing tools.
- Have attended Senior Management course(s) lasting for not less than Four (4) years
- Shown merit and ability in work performance and results.
9. Senior Clinical Officer
BUC 11
Responsibilities
- Implementing clinical procedures and standards quality assurance
- Providing clinical and family health care in the university and the community
- Implementing medico-legal standards and guidelines
- Undertaking disease surveillance control and management
- Monitoring patients, making appropriate referral and providing necessary guidance and counseling.
- Providing specialized medical services
- Providing emergency clinical care during disasters.
- Filter and refer patients appropriately
- Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Medicine or its equivalent from a recognized institution
- At least Eight (8) years’ work experience as Clinical Officer I or equivalent position.
- Certificate of registration from the Clinical Officers Council of Kenya
- Valid Practicing License from the Clinical Officers Council of Kenya
- Certificate in computer skills from a recognized institution.
- A Management training course will be an added advantage
10. Senior Security Officer
Scale BUC 9
Responsibilities
- Being in charge of University College security.
- Prevention and detection of crime and riots
- Investigation works
- Information collection, analysis and reporting.
- Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Served for five (6) years in the uniformed forces at the rank of an Inspector, Security Officer, Captain or its equivalent.
- Demonstrated outstanding administrative ability in controlling security
- No criminal record.
- Computer skills from a recognized institution.
