About the job:

GOGLA is seeking motivated graduate interns related to public policy and international development to support the Policy and Regional Representation Division. You will work in an international and dynamic environment.

  • Location: Nairobi, Kenya
  • Reporting to: Head of Policy and Regional Strategies
  • Duration: 12 months
  • Onboarding: as soon as possible

Core Tasks 

  • Supporting the coordination of the GOGLA Policy Working Group(s) and activities falling under the working group’s remit; this includes the development of industry opinions
  • Support coordination of various projects falling under the remit of the policy and regulatory program, including monitoring, reporting and evaluation of projects to donors
  • Organization of events and meetings such as public and private sector dialogues or topical workshops
  • Facilitating and coordinating information sharing with sector partners
  • Carrying out research on specific topics of relevance to the program, such as collation of background information, development of overview documents on specific topics, or stakeholder mapping
  • Research and analysis in the fields of enabling environment as well as business development.
  • Support the coordination of the working groups (policy, social impact, business development),
  • Drafting of reports, and development of content for GOGLA communication.
  • Support to the organization of GOGLA events and the general administration of the Association.

The ideal candidates will have:

  • A high level of passion for GOGLA’s mission and objectives.
  • Bachelors’ degree in development cooperation, public policy, political science, economics or other related fields.
  • An inquisitive mind, strong analytical skills, good written and verbal communication skills and a keen eye for details
  • A high-level passion for the energy access sector.
  •  Previous experience is not required but previous experience or an internship is an added value.

Candidate Attributes:

  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills in English
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Preferably some understanding in the energy access space and on market-based solutions
  • A clear understanding of the importance of the right government policies
  • Strong strategic and management skills
  • Good prioritization and people skills with a focus on continual professional development
  • The ability to take ownership of problems and demonstrate a flexible, adaptable approach to work
  • The ability to work in a demanding, fast-paced, entrepreneurial and international environment
  • Confident working in multi-cultural teams.
