Description: The General Manager Operations and Safety is accountable to the Chief Executive Officer for the operation and safety of all Airports and Airstrips under the management of Kenya Airports Authority. Working closely with the General Manager Security as well as other stakeholders including various ministries, regulatory bodies, security and safety agencies, the General Manager Operations and Safety is responsible for overseeing and confirming the implementation of ICAO standards as well as regulations and guidelines from the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) in the operations of all KAA airports and airstrips. Working through the respective Airport Managers reporting to this position, and with stakeholders including passengers, customers, airlines, concessionaires, other service providers, and the respective communities, the incumbent will review the capacity of the current facilities vis-à-vis current and anticipated demands and make recommendations for upgrading and/or enhancement of operational facilities, passenger facilitation, ground and cargo services in order continuously provide exceptional seamless safe and efficient service to passengers and customers and enhance realisation of revenue targets. The right candidate will have a minimum of 10 years airport management and/or operations and safety experience with at least 6 years’ experience gained in a senior managerial level and a proven track record in commercial airport management, with demonstrated experience in serving a large and complex customer base. He/she will have a bachelor’s degree in airport management, aviation administration, aviation management, public administration, business administration, or a related field, with relevant certification in airport operations and airport safety. Practical working knowledge of an ERP such as SAP is essential. A Masters level qualification is desirable.
