The Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD), initially Kenya Institute of Education (KIE) is the national curriculum development Centre established through the KICD Act No. 4 of 2013 of the laws of Kenya.
The Institutes’ core function is to develop research informed curriculum and curriculum support materials for basic and tertiary education and training below the university.
KICD is also charged with the responsibility to initiate and conduct research to inform curriculum policies, review and development.

The Assistant Director- Quality Assurance and Risk Management will report to the Deputy Director- Corporate Planning, Quality Assurance and Risk Management:
Responsibilities
- Oversee the implementation and administration of ISO standards for the Institute;
- Establish and implement Information Security Management System (ISMS) standards;
- Initiating the development of standards, systems and procedures for compliance, quality assurance and risk management;
- Initiating the preparation and spear heading the implementation of quality assurance and enterprise risk management plans;
- Coordinating the implementation of various quality management systems/standards within the Institute;
- Coordinating internal and external quality management system audits and liaising with certifying body for certification;
- Facilitating the identification and evaluation of risks in liaison with process owners, monitoring risk exposure and advising management accordingly;
- Evaluating the risk exposures relating to the Institute’s governance, operations and information systems;
- Developing the enterprise risk management strategy, policy and framework for the Institute;
- Coaching management in responding to risks;
- Managing all activities and processes and support management’s achievement of strategic targets by providing risk navigation of key performance indicators;
- Appraising the relevance, reliability and integrity of management, and operating reports, risk management and control processes
- Design and Implement structured quality management policy, strategy and methodology across the

Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, an applicant must have: –
- Served in the grade of Principal Quality Assurance Officer, Job group “P” or equivalent and relevant position in public or private organization for a minimum period of three (3) years;
- Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields: Education, Economics, Statistics, Economics and Mathematics, Business Management or equivalent from a recognized institution
- Master’s degree in any of the following fields: Education, Economics, Statistics, Economics and Mathematics, Business Management or equivalent from a recognized institution;
- At least 4 years’ experience in ISO 9001:2015 or ISO 9001: 2008 implementation or administration;
- Demonstrated training and experience as ISO 9001:2015 lead internal auditor in a large
- Leadership course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
- Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
- At least three (3) years’ experience in a supervisory role;
- Member of a quality assurance professional body;
