Finance and Information Management Intern at Action Against Hunger International

Founded in 1979, Action Against Hunger International (ACF) is an international humanitarian recognized in the fight against hunger. ACF mission is to save lives through the prevention, detection, and treatment of malnutrition, especially during and after emergency situations and conflicts. Helen Keller International (HKI) was founded in 1915 and is dedicated to saving the sight and lives of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged. HKI aims to combat the root causes and consequences of blindness and malnutrition by establishing programs based on evidence and research in vision, health and nutrition.

Summary of position

The Finance and Information Management Intern/Volunteer will work with the Regional Finance Specialist and Regional Grants Advisor, supporting in the day to day analytical, MIS and statistical works, and any required follow up with respective country teams

Essential job roles

Support to Finance functions

  1. Support to analyze countries BFU + forecast, and follow up with country team as required.
  2. ACF Working tools update – Shared cost tool
  3. Support in populating the ACF Financial, Log MIS systems with Country updated data
  4. Audit issues mapping tool updated and analysis done
  5. Reconciliation of award vision and Saga, pointing out any required, missing updates
  6. Donor receivables tracker review and update, pointing out any anomalies
  7. Any other duties as required

Support to Information management for Finance and Grants department

  1. Identify information and data requirements to support regional finance and grants departments, and support country offices in gathering and sharing this information and data.
  2. Updated finance data base for dash board update
  3. Ensure that the information on the Dashboard serves the needs of finance and grants specialists.
  4. Any other duties as required.

Physical demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit for long periods and to concentrate on work, including typing, and turn out heavy volumes of work accurately, within short time frames under stressful situations.

Must be able to proofread own work accurately so that only minor corrections are needed on an infrequent basis.

Working Conditions.

  • The duties of the job require regular job attendance at least five days per week. Must be available to work outside normal office hours or on the weekends as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economic, information systems, computer science or related field.
  • Ability to analyze statistical information
  • Hands on experience in Microsoft office
  • Good communication skills, able to establish rapport with people at all levels
  • Quick learner
  • Self-motivated with high energy levels and positive attitude
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team.
  • Detailed oriented and ability to manage multiple tasks with completing deadlines.

Benefits

The Intern will receive a taxable stipend of KES 1500 for everyday worked for.
