Greenlight Planet is on a mission to revolutionize rural energy access for the 1.5 billion off-grid villagers who use dirty, dangerous kerosene lanterns for light. In four years we’ve sold 1.6 million solar lights to off-grid families in South Asia and Africa— all paid for up-front, in cash— the latter 1 million customers acquired over the past year. Our products were recognized recently as ‘the best solar lamp’ in the Economist. Uniquely, we sell our life-changing Sun King solar home lights to off-grid families in India and Africa through a massive direct sales force of trusted, village-level sales agents that penetrate deeply into rural markets to promote our products home to home and build trust in our brand at a micro level.
Reporting to: Associate Manager, Operations
Key responsibilities for the role include:
Inventory Planning
Plan for inventory levels as per the business requirements of Easy Buy (EB) direct sales to ensure optimum stocks with zero stock outs at all times by:
- Following up on inventory projections from the head of sales
- Comparing the projections with the updated pipeline inventory
- Analyzing everyday sales from Angaza for purposes of replenishment and invoicing
- Forecasting on a 6-week lead time
- Establishing an EOQ
Inventory and Warehouse Management
Managing inventory at the warehouse from the time of receipt and allocation of stock to the time of outward dispatch by:
- Ensuring timely GRN of stocks both in WMS and SAP
- Ensuring proper warehouse arrangement and racking
- Ensuring that inventory is managed in accordance with best practice of FIFO
- Working with sales team to ensure timely replenishment of stocks
- Daily invoicing of the sold units
- Initiating orders and following up with 3PL providers for order picking/filling
- Coordinating dispatch to ensure timely delivery
- Ensuring zero stock outs at the shops and raising an alarm foreseeing such a situation in good time i.e. using the forecasting vs lead times to alert such a situation
- Conducting daily cycle counts, monthly stock takes and performing reconciliations
Outbound Logistics
Coordinating a flawless outbound for the purposes of DRP to avert any situation of bullwhip effect by:
- Best practices of JIT
- Measuring the service provider as per the set KPIs of O-T-D
- Ensuring that delivery to shops and partners is done within the set timelines
Shops Inventory Support
Ensuring complete visibility of inventory at shop level and at EO level by:
- Monitoring shop and EO inventory levels on iVend and Angaza
- Working closely with the country store manager to enforce inventory holding guidelines for shops and EOs
- Coordinating warranty replacements and reverse logistics for in warranty stocks from shops to the EB technical team
- Supporting the store manager with implementation of projects as needed
Reporting
- Weekly Inventory Reporting of stocks at warehouse, shops and EO levels
- Daily EB sales report comparing Angaza vs daily invoiced
- Any other report as maybe needed
The ideal candidate:
- Has a degree qualification (preferably Operations/Finance(audit)/ actuarial science/Tax) from a Premier institution
- Has 3 years’ experience in data analytics/business analysis for sales/supply planning / distribution requirement planning
- Knowledge and hands on experience of Audit /Data analysis / statistical compilation
- Ability to work with distributors, sales teams and sales agents to ensure smooth distribution operations
- Ability to collect sales data, use the data to forecast and plan for inventory
- Knowledge and working experience with a robust ERP / WMS
- Excellent hands on Experience on use of computer tools (excel /macros /v-lookup /charts /pivot table) for analysis for business
- Ability to work comfortably with and maintain large volumes of data in excel
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work remotely under minimal supervision
