Kenya Commercial Bank Limited is registered as a non-operating holding company which started operations as a licensed banking institution with effect from January 1, 2016. The holding company oversees KCB Kenya – incorporated with effect from January 1, 2016 – and all KCB’s regional units in Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Ethiopia and South Sudan. It also owns KCB Insurance Agency, KCB Capital, KCB Foundation and all associate companies. The holding company was set up to among other things to enhance the Group’s capacity to access unrestricted capital and also enable investment in new ventures outside banking regulations, achieve operational and strategic autonomy for the Group’s operating entities and enhance corporate governance across the Group and oversight in management of subsidiaries.
The Position:
Reporting to the Head of Compliance and Ethics, the role holder will manage the coordination of Business Continuity Management in KCB Bank Kenya and support KCB Group liaison on BCM policies and practices including Strategic Risk Management. The Manager will:
Identify, evaluate and address the entire portfolio of strategic and operational risks and vulnerabilities presenting the Group with risks to continuity of business and to plan for the continuity of business in the event of various impacts.
Champion and manage Group Strategic Risk identification and continuous independent strategic plan development and implementation as well as risk monitoring and reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Liaise across the KCB Group entities to guide on, collect and collate compliance risk survey & assessment data to facilitate establishing of the individual and organizational Business Continuity Impact Analysis (BIA) & Risk and Vulnerability Assessments (RVA) to determine the extent that events or set of circumstances will adversely affect the achievement of business and operational objectives.
- Provide effective liaison with Strategy Division to achieve visibility of Strategic Business Impact Analysis and Vulnerabilities, and risks to the development and implementation of approved strategic plans.
- Provide independent strategic plan development and implementation risk management, including monitoring and reporting.
- Support development of necessary recommendations to assist the Business Continuity Management Team develop, agree and implement agreed resilience and response recommendations.
- Maintain monitoring and tracking through liaison with line management, to provide reports on the status of implementation of business continuity recommendations, highlighting gaps and problem areas.
- Supporting and monitoring testing of Business Continuity plans to provide status report and highlighting areas for further testing, or untested plans for action.
- Assessing incident reports from Bank units for Business Continuity risk implications and making recommendations for line management action.
- Monitor and advice on the effectiveness and performance of responsibilities related to Strategic & Business Continuity risk management across Head Office Support functions.
- Monitor and report on Business Continuity standards and practices across the Group.
- Providing effective support to BCM as a key member of the BCM team and the CMT Secretariat
- Provide Business continuity risk liaison at peer levels across specialist support and risk functions. (Legal, Audit, Risk, HR, Finance, Forensic investigations, and Insurance).
The Person:
For the above position, the successful applicant should have the following:
- Degree from an institution recognized by CUE. MBA degree will be an added advantage.
- At least one business continuity risk-relevant Professional qualification in MBCI, CBCP, DRII-CFCP, ISO 22301 CBCM, EDRP, BCS-ISEP, IRM, GARP, PRMIA will be a significant advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years’ management experience in Banking combining roles in Operations, Risk management, Compliance and Audit.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in Business Continuity Management.
- Proven experience in carrying out Strategic Risk management from a Risk management perspective is desirable.
- Vast Planning & Project management experience is essential.
- Knowledgeable in IT, Banking Operations, Administration and Supervisory skills.
- Good management skills including organizational, presentation & communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrate high integrity.
