Duties and responsibilities include:
- Inspection and maintenance of buildings, plant and equipment;
- inspection of works;
- installation and testing of plant and equipment;
- designing of simple structures;
- maintenance and manning of institute research vessels.
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a mean grade C (Plain) or its equivalent;
- Higher national Diploma in one of the following disciplines:- Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building and Civil Engineering, or its equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
OR
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a mean grade C (Plain)or its equivalent;
- Ordinary Diploma in Marine Engineering/Electrical;
- 2nd Class Marine Engineer Certificate of Competency – Unlimited or Limited in their respective fields.
