Key Responsibilities And Tasks
- Spearheading the process of developing medium and long term corporate strategic plans;
- Overseeing the execution of the corporate strategic plans through development and roll out of business plans;
- Guiding divisions and departments in the development of divisional and departmental business plans and scorecards;
- Spearheading new business development initiatives including development of relevant strategic partnerships;
- Partnering with business to provide continual risk assessment, designing & implementing strategies and processes to mitigate the same.
- Monitoring and providing quarterly reports on the progress against the Corporate Business Plan and the Performance Targets and recommending timely interventions or remedial plans where necessary;
- Identifying opportunities for growth through research and development;
- Ensuring that strategies are commercially focused and outcome led;
- Ensuring that the Corporation’s business processes are aligned to the strategic objectives of the company through overseeing periodic review of business processes and recommending areas for improvement;
- Overseeing the implementation of corporate strategic projects through coordination, monitoring and evaluation;
- Championing the role of the Corporation in the national agenda through actively representing the Corporation in various Government committees as well as contributing to the national petroleum and energy policy;
- Reviewing commercial options and coordinating strategic acquisitions and divestures
- Providing effective guidance and support to key decision makers internally within the company, and externally when required to;
- Collaborating with all stakeholders & partners in the development of strategies;
- Coordinating management meeting including preparation of agenda, preparation and dissemination management meetings minutes;
- Driving the development and implementation of a focused Public Relations strategy and sustaining the Corporation’s reputation for quality, reliability and customer satisfaction;
- Developing, Implementing and Monitoring the Division’s budget;
- Ensuring compliance with the Corporation’s policies, procedures and regulations to enhance operational efficiency;
- Coaching and mentoring direct reports to ensure excellent performance and effective succession planning; and
- Any other duty that may be assigned.
Profile
Academic Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Public Policy, Strategic Management, Business Administration, Economics or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution shall be an added advantage;
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, Finance or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
Professional Qualifications
Diploma in Project Management, Certificate in Research or Certificate in Change Management;
Experience
- At least 12 years in a busy corporate strategy development and implementation environment 5 of which should have been at Managerial level;
- Training in core strategy processes and project management in a busy commercial or policy planning environment;
- Experience in working in a think-tank or high profile management consultancy role or policy or analytical arm of an oil and gas entity;
- Sector knowledge – an understanding of the petroleum industry is an advantage;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills

Candidates will be required to satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on leadership and integrity, and are thus required to submit clearance certificates from the following institutions together with the job application:
- Kenya Revenue Authority (Tax Compliance Certificate)
- Higher Education Loans Board
- Ethics & Anti – Corruption Commission
- Criminal Investigation Department (Certificate of Good Conduct)
- Report from an approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)
- Evidence of on-going clearance is admissible subject to satisfactory results (presentation of a clearance certificate from the above institutions) before the selection process.
