Tana River County is one of the forty seven (47) counties in the Republic of Kenya. The County takes its name from River Tana which is the longest river in Kenya. It is a County in the former Coast Province, Kenya with an area of 35,375.8 square kilometers (13,658.7 sq mi) and a population of 262,684 according to the 2012 census. The administrative headquarter of the county is Hola. The County has three sub counties; Bura, Galole and Garsen.
Terms of Service: All positions will be on Permanent and Pensionable terms except Director Finance and Drilling Rig Operator.
Remuneration: As prescribed by Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).
02/2021: Obstetrics and Gynaecology, JOB GROUP ‘P’ (1 POST)
Duties and responsibilities:
- Performing complex and advanced clinical patient management in area of specialization including Performance of caesarean sections or other surgical procedures as needed;
- Clinical duties in County Hospital;
- Teaching and Supervision of health workers;
- Preparing and responding to emergencies and disasters;
- Outreach clinics and surgeries in the county hospitals;
- Assist in the policy formulization;
- Monitor patients’ conditions and progress and re-evaluate treatment as necessary;
- Explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patients;
- Monitoring the provision of forensic and medico-legal services; and
- Perform any other duties and responsibilities as shall be assigned from time to time.
Requirements for appointment:
- Must be a Kenyan citizen;
- Served as senior Medical Officer for a minimum period of three (3) years;
- A Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.Ch.B) degree or any other equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by the Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board;
- Master’s Degree (M.Med) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology or equivalent postgraduate qualification from a recognized institution;
- Registered with Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board;
- Being in possession of valid practicing license from the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board;
- Certificate in Senior Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
- Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution; and
- Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
