Statistics Officer I at Kenya Civil Aviation Authority

Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) was established on 24th October 2002 by the Civil Aviation (Amendment) Act, 2002 with the primary functions towards; Regulation and oversight of Aviation Safety & Security; Economic regulation of Air Services and development of Civil Aviation; Provision of Air Navigation Services, and Training of Aviation personnel KCAA; as guided by the provisions of the convention on international civil aviation, related ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs), the Kenya Civil Aviation Act, 2013 and the civil aviation regulations.

Reports To: Chief Corporate Planning Officer

Job Purpose To undertake data collection, analysis and production of statistical reports.

Scope of work/duties/responsibilities

  • Providing input to the overall strategic processes of the Authority by collecting and analyzing civil aviation data.
  • Performing statistical, financial, industry trends analyses.
  • Liaising with Business Units to ensure that registers are updated and records maintained in an appropriate format.
  • Collecting and compiling data for preparation of reports on the performance of the civil aviation industry.
  • Assisting departments in the preparation of the annual work plans by providing statistical information.
  • Collecting and collating statistical data on aircraft movements and routings for use in review of charges for air navigation services.
  • Undertaking analysis of data submitted by departments and industry for decision making and inclusion in the Authority’s corporate strategic plans.
  • Preparing analytical reports on economic performance and the performance of the aviation industry for Management.
  • Coordinating collection of background data for preparation of reports on research studies
  • Performing any other duty assigned by the Chief Planning Officer

Qualifications

  • A degree in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics or Actuarial Science from a recognized University.

Experience

  • 2 years’ experience in business planning or statistical and economic analyses or performance monitoring
  • Experience in identifying key business and operational issues and formulating proposals

Knowledge and skills

  • Knowledge of civil aviation sector.
  • Good communication and Interpersonal skills.
  • Report writing and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer operations
