Terms of Service: 3 years contract

Remuneration: As per SRC guidelines

Requirements for Appointment

  1. Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade C- (minus) or its approved equivalent
  2. Possess Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Accounting or Finance option), Business Administration (Accounting Option) or any other approved equivalent qualification from an institution recognized in Kenya.
  3. A pass in part II of the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Examination or its recognized equivalent qualification will be added advantage
  4. Certificate in Computer applications and be proficient in Word Processors, Spreadsheets, presentation and Database

Duties and Responsibilities

An officer at this level will be responsible for performing a variety of accounting work of limited scope and under the guidance of a senior officer.

  1. Verifying compiled statistical records for accuracy
  2. Maintenance of stores records and equipment inventory
  3. Preparation of estimates of expenditure on general office services
  4. Safe custody of invoices, receipts and other records
  5. Processing of documents for issue of licenses or certificates under relevant Acts
  6. Verification of vouchers and committal documents in accordance with laid down rules and regulations
  7. Data capture, maintenance of primary records such as cashbooks, ledgers, vote book, registers and preparation of simple management reports e.g. interest and expenditure returns etc.
  8. Responsible for the safe custody of government records and assets under him/her
  9. Writing cheques and posting payments and receipt vouchers in the cash books
  10. Balancing and ruling of the cash books on a daily basis
  11. Preparation of expenditure and authority to incur expenditure (AIE) funding returns on quarterly basis

NOTE:

Interested applicants are expected to get clearance from the following bodies:

  1. Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA);
  2. Higher Education Loans Board (HELB);
  3. Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission;
  4. Criminal Investigation Department (Certificate of Good Conduct);
  5. Credit Reference Bureau (CRB);
  6. Commission of University Education (for clearance of foreign qualifications).
