Job description

In this role, the successful candidate will be expected to design, develop and implement health and safety strategy and procedures that promote provision of efficient healthcare services that ensures a healthy productive workforce and responds appropriately to aviation health issues.

  • Support the Head of Medical and Occupational Health in developing and implementing the company health and safety strategy to enable achievement of set business Objectives.
  • Ensure efficient provision of health care service so as to maintain a healthy workforce that can support the business.
  • Delivery of health care services – preventive, curative and rehabilitative healthcare
  • Liaise with Health providers/partners to ensure a comprehensive inpatient health service delivery and effective cost control (case management and outpatient cost control).
  • Implement occupational health & safety programmes for proactive management of risks at the workplace and lead on implementation of issues emerging from departmental health and safety committees for a safe work environment.
  • Work in close consultation and co-ordination with quality & safety division to ensure consistency of policy and practice on safety issues and to provide input as necessary on occupational safety issues.
  • Ensure compliance to the Occupational health Act and regulations by DOHSS (Directorate of Health and safety).

Job Purpose Statement

Reporting to the Head of Procurement, the ideal candidate will be required to develop, implement and maintain cost efficient procurement strategies for operations that directly support the airline. These includes procurement of Technical Spare-Parts like Engines and Outstation services which includes Ground Handling for both Technical and Service – Ground Handling Agents (SGHA) and Ground Sales Agent (GSA) for both Commercial and Cargo, to ensure a seamless safe and reliable supply chain for Kenya Airways PLC. He/she will monitor market trends and provide Kenya Airways with innovative solutions for direct procurement solutions.

Specifically, The Successful Jobholder Will Be Required To

  • Monitor supply market trends (e.g. material price increases, shortages, changes in suppliers) interpreting the impact of these trends on company strategies.
  • Providing alternate solutions where required, keeping abreast of innovation amongst OEM and MRO suppliers.
  • Monitor supplier performance and evaluate for improvement and cost reduction.
  • Improve supplier base as new vendors enter the market to ensure supplier consolidation strategy is implemented.
  • Drive ERP, Oases and other system utilization to ensure integrity and provide visibility along the chain while ensuring that contracts deliver value for KQ.

Job Purpose Statement

Reporting to the Head of Procurement, the role holder will ensure management and control of the company facilities while supporting the company’s business operations. He/she will be required to develop and implement a planned maintenance program with monitoring, reporting defect, cause, effect and corrective action for all facilities.

The Successful Candidate Will Be Expected To

  • Ensure all processes and compliance programs are met.
  • Prepare cost estimates for moves and equipment.
  • Manage maintenance of grounds.
  • Coordinate building security and maintenance services.
  • Manage and supervise all facilities personnel.
  • Allocate workload and supervise upkeep staff (custodians, janitors etc.)

Job Requirement

  • Civil Engineering degree or equivalent in construction or property maintenance, property administration.
  • At least 7-10 years’ experience in facilities management in a corporate environment.
  • Contract administration skills and knowledge.
  • Good planning and organizational skills.
  • Conversant with the provision of the new Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Knowledgeable in the environmental and building regulatory laws.
  • Experience in Real Estate management is an added advantage.
  • Experience in planning maintenance operations.
  • Solid understanding of technical aspects of plumbing, carpentry, electrical systems etc.
  • Working knowledge of facilities machines and equipment.
  • Ability to keep track of and report on activity.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
