ICT Technician at Shamberere Technical Training Institute

Shamberere Technical Training Institute is one of the greatest Institutions in middle and Tertiary training which offers creative and innovative courses. Shamberere Technical Training Institute (STTI), locate in Kakamega County, was established in 1982 as a Rural Education Programme and later elevated to a Youth Polytechnic in 1985. It was subsequently awarded a Trade Test Center in 1996, catering for boarders and day scholars. The Institute is now registered under the then Ministry of Education Science and Technology (MOEST) as one of the technical training institutes in Kenya since 2009. The Institute has continued to grow in terms of enrollment and infrastructure and we are proud to note that 90% of our graduates are absorbed in the job market and 10% have been successful entreprenuers. The Institute is located next to West Kenya Sugar Company along Kakamega Webuye road off Kambi ya Mwanza Market

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and prioritize advanced ICT support service and advice as required across the
  • Configure and test ICT equipment and networks, including hardware, peripherals, and software and ensure efficient performance and appropriate default
  • Monitor performance of and to diagnose and resolve most network infrastructure, software and hardware faults, and perform a range of maintenance repairs and
  • Work with the ICT department in the delivery of projects and support as required including ICT security and efficient use of resources including purchase of appropriate
  • Advise on, co-ordinate, and monitor Health and Safety and audit checks including electrical testing, warranties, licenses and risk
  • Support and develop the system recovery processes to minimize the risk and impact of a serious disaster and threats to continuity (including co-ordination of appropriate backup regime and virus protection.
  • Assist in strategic business and financial planning to ensure ICT service meets the Institute’s strategic vision
  • Perform maintenance of servers and ICT equipment to minimize breakdowns and interruptions to
  • Monitor internet connectivity for the entire Institute and report and liaise with providers to ensure there is at least 98% uptime internet
  • Create user manuals for new applications introduced to educate the user on how to use them

Qualifications

  • Certificate in Information & Communication Technology/Information Technology
  • Minimum of one (1) year of relevant work experience
  • Be 25 years of age and above
