Scope and Objectives:
Kaizen is seeking regional long-term experts to provide business development services to innovators for the forthcoming Water and Energy for Food (WE4F) East Africa Regional project.
The overall objective (impact) of the WE4F programme is to increase food production and income of smallholder farmers through and a more sustainable use of water and energy in food production. The WE4F program expects the following outputs to be achieved through the request services in the present assignment:
- Business capacities of innovators (SMEs) that offer innovative solutions (technological, digital, financial, etc. new to a context) for up-scaling climate friendly, energy and/or water efficient innovations are improved through financial and technical assistance,
- Access to appropriate financing options for climate friendly, energy and/or water efficient innovations is improved and new, suitable financing mechanisms for end user of innovations are identified.
Tasks:
- Design, prepare and manage capacity development measures for the innovators that participate in WE4F in E. Africa
- Advise and support on business models presented by innovators
- Prepare and manage contracts with selected innovators form the calls
- Support team leader in activities on business development of SMEs
- Support team leader on technical support and advice on the energy – water – food nexus
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, management or related field
- Language skills: English C1 for East Africa
- Professional experience in business development of companies who offer innovative solutions for sustainable use of energy or water in agriculture (5 years)
- Specific qualification: 5 years’ experience in advising companies in business development and in investment readiness and access to finance in the region (East Africa)
- Regional experience/Knowledge of the region: Work experience (5 years) in one or more countries of the region (East Africa)
- Well connected to networks of investors, SMEs and financial institutions
