Library Assistant at Management University Of Africa

JOB PURPOSE

To assist the Library to deliver information services to achieve goals of the University.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Searching and retrieval of information materials
  2. Uploading items in the institutional repository
  3. Working knowledge of KOHA software
  4. Cataloging and classification of information materials
  5. Capturing data into the OPAC database
  6. Handling issues relating to circulation of books
  7. Assisting Library users with locating books and other materials
  8. Carrying out basic orientation and induction of new students
  9. Maintaining records of overdue materials, lost books and fines
  10. Shelving information materials
  11. Generating and maintaining users and books barcodes
  12. Processing and maintaining periodical files
  13. Checking research proposals, term papers, seminar papers, projects, thesis and dissertations for plagiarism
  14. Assisting in the training of users in the use of the online OPAC and information databases.
  15. Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  1. A Bachelor Degree in Information or Library Science from a recognized University.
  2. Two years experience in a busy academic Library.
  3. Computer literate
  4. Experience in Customer Service role.
  5. Interpersonal skills.
  6. Good written and verbal communication.
