Prior to 1974, the Ministry of Water and Irrigation was a department in the Ministry of Agriculture. After this year, the Ministry was constituted and remained thus till 1992 when it Was merged with other departments to form the Ministry of Land Reclamation and Regional Development. After 1998, the Ministry was merged to form the Ministry of Water Resources. In 2001 during a major merger of government Ministries and departments, the Ministry of Water Resources was merged with the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources.
The Management Trainee/Intern will work directly under the supervision of the Water Resources Coordinator.
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful applicant will support in:
- Review of designs of water projects;
- Monitoring of implementation of water projects;
- Data collection and analysis of water quality and quantity;
- Capacity building of community water groups;
- Assist in the preparation of tender documents;
- Technical and Financial Evaluation of bids from Water Contractors/Consultants;
- Any other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Qualifications
The applicant must have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: Civil Engineering, Agricultural and Bio-Systems Engineering or Water Engineering from a recognized institution; and
- Aged between 25 and 35 years.
The other requirements that the successful management trainees/Intern will be required to have are:
- Valid Certificate of Good Conduct;
- Personal Accident Insurance Cover for the Internship period;
